I was seriously disapointed in the new Seth MacFarlane show. The premise sounded funny enough, a gun-toting, Osama-hating, right-winged CIA Dad is constantly on the look-out for terrorism to protect his family, which consists of a hippie daughter, nerd son, german speaking fish, trophy wife and an alien named Roger from area 51.....
I may be judging too quickly, they have run only one show, and maybe a pilot i heard, but the show reminded me too much of Family Guy. They use the same style of cut-scenes and flashbacks which made Family Guy different from the SImpsons. The Alien character also annoyed the crap out of me (whats up with him drinking a glass of wine during the middle of the day....too Brian-like).
There were a few funny scenes in the show, i laughed out loud at the cut-scene of the Iraqi couple living in their Ikea appartment, so i do reserve a small hope that the show may prove itself better in future episodes. However, the feeling im left with now is, if im going to be watching something thats like Family Guy (but not as appealing and funny), well i'd rather watch the Family guy.
Young Peter Griffin: Why did all the dinosaurs die?
Museum Curator: Because you touch yourself at night.
[Peter looks down in shame]
Peter Griffin: Brian, there's a message in my Alpha Bits. It says "OOOOOO".
Brian Griffin: Peter, those are Cheerios.
