That means that in the television news coverage and newspaper coverage that I have seen does not show such images. That fact reinforces my point that the one trying to encourage the hatred are probably those showing the pictures.
Actually I have to back away from my initial response. Since the child was not injured and Partha did not try to show the dead civilian this thread is not example of the type of hate mongering I was refering to.
The incident is infortunate, but when you refuse to obey the authorities unfortunate things can happen and with the threat of suicide bombers I support the actions of the soldiers. The full context shows that once they could properly assess the situation the proper care was given to the wounded child.
The coverage of this incident by the BBC is proper with the blurring of the dead driver. To do otherwise is disrespectful to deceased and aiming to spread hate more then anything else.
End the hypocrisy!

Actually, the civilians probably thought that the US personnel were armed bandits looking to abduct and/or rob and/or kill. If you are wondering how you mistake US soldiers for bandits, I'd simply point to the time of day when the incident occured.

Terrorists wear uniforms, helmets with lights on them, and fire m16 warning shots in patrol formation on a regular basis at dusk when there is still light.

Gee wiz, them thar terrorists got em sum gud trainin.
Burz- There have been several incidents of terrorists dressing up like and pretending to be Iraqi Police or Military. And the difference between the US military uniform and the Iraqi one is a patch on the shoulder.

I'm not arguing that they are unmistakably similar. I'm suggesting that when you are driving through an Iraqi street at night, you're first reaction to hails and gunshots from people in a uniform might not be to stop.

Personally, I don't believe it should. I was only attempting to explan why a family made a seemingly irrational decision. As for the US military, I think they did percisely what they had to.
