I don't have a problem, actually, with it. It's just the comedy potential of it. I think it's good for Bush to take a strong (if naive in its optimism) stand against racism. I think it's good for him to make overtures toward groups he's been previously dismissive of, like the Congressional Black Caucus.
His record up to this point on the matter of racism has been, well, checkered... I see it as a good thing. But there are an awful lot of punchlines.

I take civil rights very seriously, so I don't see it as pandering to minorities... if he was talking about giving minorities special programs then I would see the pandering angle. I read the article and was quite pleased with his words on the subject. Taking a strong stand on a problem that really shouldn't exist anymore is a good thing. Things that we've grown to accept (some people are bigots) can also drive a wedge in our country's innovation (referring to other thread)
