I just recently picked up Dragons of Norrath like many of fellow Brellians did. I went to my nearest Gamestop, had a good conversation with the cashier and was on my merry way to home. As i got into my car, I unwrapped my little box. I look at the back of the box, our SPECIAL in game item was... 2 potions? Woah look.... i get to use it a "limited number of times". Ok no biggy.

I open up the box and realized... wtf, where's my instruction manual? WTF is this paper shit? Where's my CD? What the fucking hell, the paper is the CD case? WTF IS THIS LAME CLOTH MAP?? $30 fucking dollars for a paper CD and a fucked up overside chunk of the already known Antonian MAP?!!!

THIS IS A FUCKING OUTRAGE!

How the fuck can you sell a paper CD case, no instructions for $30 dollars? I am so fucking pissed. Not only is it going to look fucking stupid on my CD case full of the old expansions, but what they're too fucking cheap to print out paper and give us the run-down of this expansion? And looking at the map.... what is this??? 7 zones? YOU FUCKING CHARGE US 30 BUCKS FOR 7 ZONES?! Yea i bet i know how Sony's losing money now. With their child labor made maps and non existant fucking story line... Oh not to mention the artwork...

What in the hell happend to Fionia Vie?? She's wearing a metal bra, with a giant golden loincloth! Not only that but she's wearing plate armor? WTF is going on? When did wizards wear plate? Also the artwork is HORRIBLE. All the male charaters are removed to create this Harem warrior army (I bet the Paladin is a girl, looking at the legs... skinnier than the other girls legs, and the dwarf... well female dwarves can have beards too). The females all looke too fucking butch. They all have Jay Leno chins, and their arms are the sive of the dragons themselves.

Sony, what in the fucking world are you doing? If youre trying to attact more customers. This is the wrong way. Mail me my CD case and Instructions bitches!

Hey dipshit, Firiona Vie is (and always has been) a Paladin.

You're not paying $30 for the CD. You're paying it for the dev time on the expansion, regardless of whether you purchased it at a store or over the web. If you didn't already know the box would be a bunch of marketing junk then, well, P. T. Barnum has a saying about you.

Hi there mistre Ddrak, wow a paladin huh? Woo i wonder how in the world shes able to tank with all them robes she wore for the past bajillion expansion. And what the hell is that in her hand? WOAH ITS A STAFF!!! OMFG!!! Seriously where the hell did you conclude she was a paladin? I always see he casting spells and what not, always being the captured damsel in distress. When do paladins become saved by knights? And also bravo for insulting you get a happy point! +Ddrak 1 point! woopiee

And about the dev time... you honestly say that the 7 zones they give us is worht $30 dollars? And what about the other times they neatly packaged everything huh? for what the past 5 years? all of a sudden its not included? you sir are very wrong. Its like buying a happy meal: Buy the meal get a cheese burger, fries, drink , and a toy.... now that this time, the Cheeseburger is not wrapped, the fries no longer come with the meal, the drink is water and the toy is 1 single lego block.

Dude, it's a MACE ! and she has NEVER been in a robe, she wears a metal bra (OMFG PLATE) and a loincloth (ever check a high elf female pally out ? essentially they're wearing a skirt) and please go to the EQ site, look at the artwork for theother expansions, she's wearing a CAPE not a robe...

hmm.. isnt that item called the "Staff of Fionia Vie"? Ok and i was wrong about the robe. The cape kinda made me mistake that part. But the Metal Bra... that was only in this current expansion (one of my rants atm). But from clearly from the start. you can see that FV always wears cloth, meanwhile the real Paladin is always in the paladin armor.

I don't think Ddrak ever said that it was worth 30 bucks but that is what you are being charged for.

But lets be realistic and see if your demands are really worth the time and effort that you ask.

You get a printed manual that was printed 10 days before the game was released and when you sign in you have to immediately download a new manual since it has changed. Are you going to go print it out so you can have your new manual to jack off to?

You get a CD that was stamped 10 days before the game was released and as soon as you install it you have to immediately patch it replacing half of the files since bugs were found up to release and still is buggy. You will spend the next 3 months downloading patches on those zones.

Seeing how you already have to have a internet connection to play the game and Sony has purchased the bandwidth space to be able to download the expanion and patches it makes much more sense logistically and logically to just have you download it to guarantee you get the latest files. (You do realize that for every downloadable expansion they have let you download it in bits and peices before the release date for those slower connections?)

And while complaints like this are valid for games like Halo 2 which used this as a delivery method its pretty lame for an expansion since if you can use this expansion you already know how to play the game (guess you don't need that printed manual) and you have already downloaded hundresd of MBs of patches and will continue to do so.

You are not paying for the game when you purchase Everquest, you are purchasing the content that devlopers spent time making and the experience you get during your playtime (Your adventures as you play, not level exp).

If you have not figured this out after 7 expansions you really need to get in touch with Ddrak on those condos!

I come here to rant about something THEY changed. That brings a little love with the product. Something i enjoyed having. A nice packaging and an instructions manual. No i dont use the instruction manual to see how the game is played, but i enjoyed the lore and the artwork, and the time they took to make new and intresting features in the game. I loved the in boxed item packages filled with the old well made clothmaps that looked bigger with every expansion.

How can anyone not like these?

After experiencing these for the past expansion, does not one expect the quality to stay in tuned with the rest?

So your saying for captial reasons, i should just sit back and not voice out my opinions on how i was disgusted with the outcome from the package?

I am a collector of games. Every single piece of these items were important to me. Hell even the so called "crap expansion" Legacy of Ykesha had a CD case and in case manual.

I love how you guys always fight agaisnt the person who is writing a rant. Even if its a viable and agreeable rant. No wonder this board is always so slow (except for the political area).

so tell me more about the box, is there no pewter item in the box? or how bout the little metal keychain thing to add to the other 6 or 7 i have ?

maybe they are just trying to make people pre order the expansion on line so they can make you lose aa's level s and flags again # ; )

You got keychainS ?! I was offered the SK epic but i have enough shit on my keyring that i probably would have stabbed my6self in the leg repeatedly

in addition to whatever pewter thing they had, id always thought they were kinda cool, there was a orc w/ a shield, a sword, the taelosian staff, the new epic and i think PoP may have been the first one that came out, but it was just a plastic FV chick.

if i get time ill post a pic of what we did to the orc one at my old house, the Taelosian staff now resides in my house as a bowl casher / stirrer

Yeah, she's a Paladin and always has been. If you were such a fan of game lore then you should have known that basic fact (let me guess, you didn't know Lanys was a SK either?). As you appear to be relatively clueless on lore, here's some links from the EQ message board (yeah, I know lore is soooo hard to find) that will help:

So... where did I conclude she was a Pally? I dunno - maybe it was the GAME LORE that you apparently missed while staring at her scantily clad breasts or something. The second clue of course was the fact she wore plate armor whenever she appeared in game for GM events, but I guess you're too much of a noob to remember back that far? Bloody Kithicor ring a bell?

I'm not saying the dev time is *worth* $30. I'm saying that's what they are charging for it (well, $25 actually. Only $30 if you bought it in a store). As for "neatly packaged", you clearly missed the Legacy of Ykesha packaging then I guess? Or LDoN being packaged on release? This isn't the first and certainly won't be the last time SoE releases stuff as an internet only format.

If you don't like it, how about instead of being a whiney little bitch you just get some balls and return it? If you can't even do that simple little thing then I guess it doesn't bother you too much at all really then, huh?

I never worried about Firiona Vie's class, she is special, she doesn't need a class, right? But I'm with Denny on this, she looks like a caster, or used to - I haven't seen anything of dragons of norrath. Sure, they can write that she is a paladin, but then why did they display her on the box art as a caster? I mean, the outfit, the staff or wand - she looks like a caster and not at all like a paladin. I could also show you a pic of me and then say, if you had read my bio, you would have known that I was a beautiful princess! Would you buy that? =p

Anyway, you still haven't figured SoE out after all this time?
