Vaulos,

That is a dodge of a response and you know it. If you cannot offer any specificity of your objections then they have no weight.

Dallas' murder rate went up. This in a state with the most executions. So much for captial punishment as a deterrent.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

As if capital punishment was the only factor in the murder rate.. a inneffective police department may have something to do with it as well.

Scandals such as firing of police officers that cost the city millions, at least 3 police chiefs in the last 5 years, and a drug scandal where officers were planting fake drugs which also cost millions may be more to blame then capital punishment.
End the hypocrisy!

I can't link it online, but I read a recent story about state courts being unwilling to examine DNA and other new exculpatory evidence in cases where the convicted had already been executed.

It would obviously open a can of worms, and from the states' point of view, serve no useful purpose and waste money and resources. However, it will also skew the statistics and explain why none of those who have been found innocent on later DNA evidence had already been executed.

(Someone with Lexis/Nexis might help, I've tried various Googles but they bring up floods of hits to sift through. "Exculpatory evidence executed," without the quotes, gets you pages of debates on the Peltier case, even though he hasn't been executed.)

Two names to check on are Joseph O'Dell III and Ellis Wayne Felker. They might lead to a news story on the whole thing.

Ignoring Felker's middle name, which indicates guilt of murder for anyone who follows these things, it looks like the battle went back and forth for some time, but I can't find a resolution.
