During spring break my college updated something dealing with the campus internet. Ares, the P2P program, will not connect to the server for anyone I know. We can use other p2p programs, just not ares. I was wondering if anyone had heard of this or could recommend another good spyware-free p2p program.

They didn't install any type of p2p blocker since all the other major ones work. Limewire has a load of spyware and installs 'advocate' programs like limeshoppe and crap. I'll try warez.

I don't get any spyware from limewire, or any other unwanted programs.

Theres that annoying popup in the beginning telling you to upgrade to Pro, but thats it.

Limewire was filled to the brim with junk last time I looked into it. They must have changed it recently? /shrug

I've used Limewire since it's infancy and can safely say I've never had spyware from it. it's a terrific program.. and open source for those who care.

I use limewire pro 4.8. I've never seen spyware in it, and I've used it since version 2 or 3.

Sounds like you've got limewire confused with something else.

Shareaza isn't bad either.
