Still chuckling over the meaning of the word "is"?

From this Washington Times interview with Tom DeLay:

Mr. Hurt: Have you ever crossed the line of ethical behavior in terms of dealing with lobbyists, your use of government authority or with fundraising?

Mr. DeLay: Ever is a very strong word.

As the Daily Kos noted - the correct answer is "no."

The answer is obviously "Yes, but I felt bad about it for a couple of seconds so it was ok."

Ever would not be such a strong word if Mr. Hurt simply added the word knowingly or purposefully. But he would not do that, he was trying to corner him, get him to say no and then pounce on some obscure ethical boo boo from 30 years ago or something.

I found it far more interesting that Tom Delay wants to be investigated by the Ethics Committee.....but the Dems refuse to vote and are deadlocking the committee which has spurred a potential rules change.
