I got this game early Saturday morning, and just finished it last night. I must say, simply amazing. The graphics, the atmosphere, the combat. Well, the combat is about what you'd expect from any hack-&-slash game, but that's about the only thing that I didn't find absolutely astrounding.
The environments are beautiful. I was awed again and again throughout the game with the eye-candy, and the masterful way it was implimented. The cutscenes masterfully meld still shot characters and full motion action. Everything from backgrounds to character models are simply breathtaking. Some of the best graphics I've seen on the PS2.
The story itself is nothing unique, but it's a good story nonetheless and it's told DAMN well. This is some of the best storytelling that I've ever seen in a game. The woman they got to narrate matches the mood of the story perfectly. The story itself fits quite nicely with Greek mythology as I remember it, and it definitely feels like an ancient myth.
The puzzles are fun and engaging. Nothing beats working to solve a puzzle over the course of several hours, all the while not really realizing it's a puzzle at all until it's complete.
The boss fights are unbelievable. They're unique, intelligent, and fun as all hell. The bosses themselves are intimidating and beautiful.
Overall, this is one of the best hack-and-slash games I've seen on a console. It's overall atmosphere is superbly implimented. Everything fits together quite nicely. While the game's a bit short, it's so worth it.

Yeah Linda Hunt did a really good job as the narrator.
Not sure that I would agree that it is the very best storytelling in a game, it certainly was not one of its flaws.
Combat was not anything spectacular, but the fluidity of the transitions were very nice as you went from move to move all in one trip from the ground to the air and back. They made good use of the motion capture.
The funny part is when you watch the extras and find out that the cyclops or trolls originally had a penis, but it got cut to the editing room floor.
Oh and don't forget to give the girls some attention in your bed for some extra orbs.

I found the following to be the best return on upgrades.
Blades of Chaos, Poseidon's Rage, Call of Dead (which ever Hades power is), and Artemis's Blade.
Level 4 Blades of Chaos gives you unlimited magic power when using rage fo the gods and the Dead spirits is a must if you want to finish the fight against Ares.
