And yet they still go on strong.

Our strategy against terrorist "networks" isn't working. Cutting the head off the snake seems to have an opposing effect. Removing one hub from a network may take out several nodes, but the overall network is still in place. All they have to do is replace the hub.

No, another plan needs to be conceived. But I don't have one, so I am just armchair quarterbacking.

Didn't say they were effective, just makes for nice entertainment as they rack up the score. Where would the fun be if they just stopped.

How can you say that killing thier leaders and giving them no safe haven hasn't been effective?

Because we've dragged in how many of their leaders now? And yet they still exist.

It may be enough for you to have some peace of mind, but I'm not seeing it as the ultimate answer to defeating Al Qaeda, nor terrorism in general.

How come the reputed #3 of AQ isn't on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist list?

Because he is new to the position.......try and keep up. People do not last long in that particular position. It was occupied by Khalid Sheikh Muhammed at the time of 9/11 who was subsequently captured.....then occupied by two others prior to Libbi....all of whom have been captured.

The #3 guy is pretty much the operational chief of Al Qaeda and is more readily exposed than the two top figureheads.

And if you can't figure out why it's relevant, it's been almost exactly 27 months since Mohammad's arrest.

And in case you can't read there have been 2 other #3's before Libbi and after Mohammad.

U.S. counterterrorism officials believe al-Libbi took on the role of No. 3 in al Qaeda following the March 2003 capture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Pakistan. They said al-Libbi was responsible for plotting attacks against the U.S. homeland.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was operations chief, captured in 2002. He was replaced by Binalshibh captured at the scene here. Abu Zubaydah took the position, captured in 2003.

Nobody in this position lasts for long. Al Qaeda almost certainly, like any organization like this, has plans in place for who to replace him with and has probably already moved to that person.

These guys do not automatically notify the FBI every time a new person fills the role. It usually takes some time before that information is known. It is my understanding that by the time Libbi was captured his role was only known for a short time. Perhaps they felt it best not to tip their hand and inform him that they knew what his position was by placing him on the list.

I have to ask.....why are you trying so hard to find a negative is something positive like Libbi's capture?

Excuse me....Binalshibh was captured in late 2002....I am trying to remember the name of the other man.

Should read Abu Zubaydah captured in April 2002, Binalshibh captured September 2002 and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed captured in 2003.

So between Abu Zubaydah and Libbi there were two others.

There is considerable time between Mohammed and Libbi, but as I stated they do not announce it when a position has been filled.

Nice, it only took you three posts to admit you fucked up and you STILL tried to deflect it by keeping Zubaydah's name in the picture.

Jesus, if people like you were the ones responsible for intelligence gathering, maybe I SHOULD be giving Georgie a pass.

To be included on the F.B.I.'s most wanted list, a terrorist must have been indicted by a federal grand jury, which Mr. Libbi has not.

Actually, it was a serious question - I did not know that you needed an indictment to be on the list. Then you obfuscated it by trying to pull bafflegab out of your ass.
