Definitely a worthy expansion for Oblivion, and was even challenging in places for my character who was pretty much decked out from all the official expansion modules (specifically Knights of the Nine). I do have to say the storyline was refreshingly different, even for TES and to be honest I didn't even pick the way it would end (which I won't spoil).
I do have to wonder though, why is it so friggen hard to find a sweetroll when you want one?

Eh
I didn't even realize there was an expansion planned for Oblivion. Kinda surprising, considering how hyped Oblivion initially was. Mind you, I haven't played that either, so...

I haven't bought the expansion yet which I will but I haven't bought knights of the nine either. I don't care for the company's nickel and dime strategy for small addons like horse armor etc. There's hundreds of player built free mods. Many are buggy or do not work at all. Currently I'm using 11 mods.
There are three install applications that I would recommend:
Animation Fixer - You will get hit with the animation bug sooner or later.
Mod Conflict Detector - Self explanatory.
Save Manager - Great bug free program! No more swapping save files.
Oblivion is very open ended but has the feel of an MMO without the rigidity. There are lots of ways of doing things in Ob that people call cheats. Just go into the console and type "help" and scroll through it. There are a lot more than that if you are in the know. You can make it as difficult or easy as you want and there is no one to apologize to.
Example:
I need 5,000 gold to buy a house but I don't have that much.
player.additem 0000000f 5000
bingo!
My first character has 600,000 gold and didn't cheat.
There are negatives. If you are over powered at level 2, leveling will be very slow. You get small hits for kills and quests but the big experience comes from hits to major skills. So if you are single hit killing, well you know the answer. I took down 21 Oblivion gates at low level and only went from level 2 to level 6 so there is a price for so called cheating. I have three characters. I did the first one the hard way. I'm currently working on a test character with a companion that fights the mobs with me. It's the none sexual version of Valeria Caresse. Very good mod!
My other suggestion without going into detail is:
Don't rush the main quest! Once it's done, no more Oblivion gates, no more sigil stones!
Of course you can always use the hex code for the sigil stone.

heh My guy just ran around checking out quests and exploring and was lvl 25 before he even went back to the main quest to go through an oblivion gate. The way the difficulty scales was great and doing this made the game really challenging (I like having to plan out fights)
So far he has shut down two gates and mostly dicked around in knights of 9 and shimmering and is somewhere around 40. WIll go back to the main quest at lvl 45 or so and see how crazy it gets. I am afraid that it cant really get any harder, and that I am simply too powerful now and that the game can only throw a greater number of monsters at me, that still cant do anything much to hurt me. (reflect magic and damage gear and timing shield block with max block skill and sword/mace is fairly nuts)

Yeah - you can't get hurt much at that point. Multiple mobs can still kill you from stunning, but one on one you're pretty much indefeatable at that point.I am afraid that it cant really get any harder, and that I am simply too powerful now and that the game can only throw a greater number of monsters at me, that still cant do anything much to hurt me.
