People now use a technique called bridging to level up fast. You have a level 46-48 player sidekick a new character in a level 52 mission. The bridge and sidekick just sit at the entrance and the other players kill off almost everything, then reset the mission over and over. I saw one guy level a new character into the fourties in one weekend. It also makes leveling from 46-49 easy because everyone sends you invites to be a bridge.
Dark Melee/Regen is still incredibly powerful, even after all the nerfs. Blasters are almost useless now and not very common either. I logged in a lower level controller and started a group. I was only able to find other controllers and several defenders.
I'm playing a tanker on freedom server right now. I barely log in and im getting spammed with group invites. It was the same with my defender.
My blaster on the other hand couldn't get a group to save his life.

Yeah I'm not a fan of bridging, it cheapens the game in my opinion. Although, if a cats paying his 15 bucks a month who am i to say anything, it's his money his time.
Although my pal did it shortly after launch so bridging was uncommon then. At launch Dark Melee/ Regen was Helen Keller broken.
Instant heal was exactly that, click and heal to damn near full and the recharge time on it was like 6 seconds or some crap like that. Most had it on auto fire.
What killed CoH imo (again) was when they tried to fit PvP into it. From launch it was never supposed to be a PvP title just PvE.
After they started the "tweaking" it F'd the game up hardcore. I hardly ever see anyone in the PvP zones except for Stalkers which brings me to a whole nother rant. That class is fucking stupid. Requires no skill to play and everyone talks about how f'n cool they are when the gank a defender. Anyone with any skill at hiding could use the million burned out buildings around to find a suitable hiding space to whack some one.
A power that makes them totally invisable and a sure fire one hit kill power makes that class the choice of the truely "special" players. -
A one legged monkey jacking off to camel porn and playing trivial pursuit could off a defender with little more than a flick of his hairy little wrist. It's not a skill, it's a fault in defender defensive capabilities and hit points.
They are the Red shirts of CoH.
Which is why we need more tanks. To save the defenders and us blasters. I love having a defender around I just feel bad for them cause they go limp on the first hit. Pretty sad for such an integral group character.
However the PvE is still alotta fun. I'm still digging it. Me and a couple of my old playmates from EQ started up an SG on the freedom server and we dig it.

Also wanted to add that I love the new police band missions, they are a blast and truely benifit the fast paced run run aspect of the game. I also dig CoV and playing a MM. All the MM guys are fun to play though the zombies are kinda dumb. Not that they aren't powerful or cool to look at, the AI is dumb. You gotta keep clickin the attack button to have them keep going.
Last time I played a Zombie MM it was that way anywho. Maybe they made them a little smarter. I currently play a thug MM which is an F'N blast. Duel pistols and guys in wife beaters and head bands. It's the coolest thing ever. They need Jon Bon Jovi hair though. Then I would be super keeno cool.
