Re: Laptop Battery

If i run it , even online, at low performance then it lasts longer, BUT then it takes forever for me to load pages. I've gotten some good info off this thread, thanks for posting it =)

How do you like it so far Ari?Ariannda Kusanagi wrote:Thats the same one i got Tax =D
I've never owned a Toshiba before, but so far so good here. I've never seen a computer so loaded with bloat-ware before, but the first thing I did was reinstall some different OSes so that wasn't a big deal really.

Toshiba does not make their own notebooks. Nobody really does. They purchase them from ODM's like: http://tuxmobil.org/laptop_oem.html

Well it's certainly a power hog but i sit on the couch with it plugged in. If i forget to change the power usage from high performance to battery saver then when i turn it ON it uses like 7% of saved battery power when i'm not plugged in. I love it, once I got past using a smaller keyboard again and hitting CAPS instead of A it's great !
It's got Vista, which I hate, but the laptop itself seems good. I wish it had some more Ram, can I add ram to a laptop easily ? i'd like to consider it for mobile gaming, and likewise i have no idea hot to connect to the wireless networks that are shown as being unlocked (i have a comcast card for my homes wireless network, as the laptop wouldn't connect to the home network even though it showed up as being connected).
I've never owned a laptop before, but I'm finding it quite handy and a good idea !

Yes, if all the memory slots aren't full already.can I add ram to a laptop easily ?
If you don't own them, don't connect to them. I don't quite follow what the issue was with your own network though - might be able to help out if you can describe it better?i have no idea hot to connect to the wireless networks that are shown as being unlocked (i have a comcast card for my homes wireless network, as the laptop wouldn't connect to the home network even though it showed up as being connected).

Re: Laptop Battery
It's a little weird, but did you be sure and check that the wireless switch on the laptop is on? It's actually a physical switch on the bottom/end of the laptop near the front. When I got mine, I was worried that wireless wasn't working, but it turns out I just didn't see the tiny piece of plastic in the front to enable it.Ariannda Kusanagi wrote:i have no idea hot to connect to the wireless networks that are shown as being unlocked (i have a comcast card for my homes wireless network, as the laptop wouldn't connect to the home network even though it showed up as being connected).

Re: Laptop Battery
They had to install a comcast wireless adapter card because we got the wireless router, and we turned on the wireless signel finder thingy (as tax nicely drew) and the comcast guys were there, and it was showing my home connection, so they connected, it said it was connected but any internet page brought up showed us other wise, so they popper the card in and it works fine. But lately my pc is dropping my home connection, even though the desktop is still running off the wireless just fine.
It hates me (
So i have to go in an manually reconnect to the correct network using the correct wireless device. Now when i turn on the swtich and take out the card i can see my home connection, but i dont know how to actually connect to it, as if i was at a wi-fi hot spot.

Re: Laptop Battery
Typically you just click on it and hit the "Connect" button. If it needs passwords etc. then it should ask.

Re: Laptop Battery
there's a connect button ? ... I have never owned or used a laptop in my life, and i figured it'd be easy to connect. No matter what i click onit won't connect (even my home network where i know the password).
Wow i DO suck =(

Re: Laptop Battery
Nah - if you can't figure it out then the UI designer sucks. Typically you should be able to click on the network icon in the task bar and choose "Connect to a Wireless Network", then go from there.

Re: Laptop Battery
I can radar to see what connections are available, but it really gives me no connection options, save for my own network (even when i remove the comcast card)
