Vanguard crash
So Vanguard has been working fine since it was purchased. All the sudden Vanguard problem and I don't know what to do now. the game was un and re-installed. It patches, and then it begins to load but gets no further then the splash screen, then it crashes into an "Unrecoverable Error" with no other message.
This is installed on a Dell Inspirion 530s with 2 gigs of RAM, and an ATI Radeon HD 2400 with a Duel CPU E2180 Processor @ 2ghz
Like I said the game's been reinstalled and patched and I just don't know what else to do about it. I'm sort of interested in actual ideas (as opposed to "Don't play Vanguard") since it worked just fine until today.

so you hadn't updated drivers before it started happening?
(mainly trying to see if it were a problem introduced by new drivers)

the drivers were all up to date, they were updated when the game was first installed, and since i didn't do anything else... EQ2 runs fine, i think it's a VG specific problem, but i just am not quite sure wtf the problem is to even begind. I could wipe the whole system but that seems a bit extreme

post your VGclient.log if you can find it, please. 
Also, if you have a character selected that you're trying to log straight into theres a known bug out there about that... choose no character and try logging in.

IIRC, Vanguard has an option to do a complete file scan of the install. Did you try that?

PS_UberShader is a call to the Pixel Shader. I used to do a lot of volunteer tech support for VG back when I actually gave a crap about the game. My guess is DX9 had been removed from your system. Did you do any kind of System Restore or anything like that? I do not believe VG supports DX10 so you still need to install the DX9 install for Vista.

Actually posted this for b/f, we checked the VG forums and found an issue with shaders to change the value to False. He messed around with it a bit... then it works !
Nothing out of the ordinary was done. He was the last person to play, i hadn't touched EQ2 since he played last (which probably doesn't mean anything, but sometimes it does I reckon) and it just ... crashed. So there was a reinstall. I knew there was something we messed with in the INI files for eq, then i remembered it was the UI's that had to have new folders and such, and there was osmething else... anyway it all wurky now =)
I asked about DX too but no one wants to listen to me.
