Sister and I have old rabbit TVs and we just received our coupons. I was checking reviews online and it seems the Zenith and Insignia (I think that's what it was) were the best. People here tend to buy fancy gadgets, but has anyone participated in the program? Some reviews said that some boxes run way too hot. Zenith seemed to cool the best. Thoughts?

They probably all use the same parts inside. Just get the cheapest one with the most features.

Sadly, I can't recommend much. In the spirit of true international co-operation, the US and the rest of the world settled on different standards again (ATSC vs DVB-T) so we get all different stuff here.

I picked up an Apex convertor box, because it has an S-Video out which is a cut above much of its competition. Other than that it does what it's supposed to do. I felt kind of silly buying it because I have a high def tuner card in my PC and what little TV watching I do is on that.
