Dollhouse

Post by Harlowe »

Has anyone caught this yet? Well it's Joss Whedon's latest so I had high "Firefly" hopes, but so far it's kind of lame. It is fun to see a few actors from all his series in it (Firefly, Buffy & Angel), so I'm hoping it will get over it's clunky start.

I'm not liking it so far. I recognize the faces, but I don't see too many signs of Whedon in the writing.

I haven't seen it yet. I'm waiting until about mid-season when things will start to get interesting. This is how it usually goes with Joss.

Third episode in and

...it's even lamer yet. I can't get that awful song out of my head (that the cocoa britney spears character was singing) "Super star, super star driving in your fancy car" and "You're a Superstar, everyone knows who you are" GOD AWFUL AWFUL BAD BAD BAD. I really have zero hope for this series now.

Okay well here is something hopeful, it sounds like Joss wasn't really in control (after the pilot) until episode 6-13.

In the most diplomatic way she can, it sounds like she's saying the quality is much better from 6 on.
we’ve now done 13 episodes, and people have said that the show took off once they finally realized that Joss is best off left alone to do his thing. That happens around episode six — six through 13 are just extraordinary. I love one, two, three, four, and five, but Joss’ first script that he did after the pilot is number six, which is called “Man On The Street,” and it is just unbelievable. From that point on, the world unfolds in Joss’ way, with Joss’ speed, and it’s really remarkable.

I wasn't really feeling Whedonesque in any of the episodes thus far. Here I thought maybe he was losing his touch, lol.

Sounds like he's just being molested by the studio for a wee bit. Also sounds like he didn't learn his lesson the first time when signing up with Fox again.

Lemme know how episode 6 is and I may give it a shot. =) I'm afraid to invest in it because . . . well . . . it's Fox.

I'm part of the 'I only watch because I liked Firefly' crowd.

But honestly, so far the only reason to watch this show is because of the babes.

This show eats dick. I give any new show 3 episodes before I thumb up or thumb down it, and this pile of shit makes me wish I had more thumbs to point down.

& Dushku ain't even all that. Her boobage is small and not even the good perky kinda small. Worse, she is such a horrible fucking actress that I'm not even sure great hooters could distract me.

Come on you gotta give Whedon his shot, watch like 6 & 7 and see if it starts going in a better direction.

I'll give it a shot. He has a solid enough track record.
I hope I see what we were expecting to see when we first heard about the show.

I will still give it a shot, but the episodes have been overall very poor. Various people say to wait until after episode 6; and I will do that. This last episode, with the singer, I fast forwarded through 30-40% of the show.

I like the FBI guy, I like Echo's handler, the genius 'kid' is growing on me, and ... that may be about it for now. Amy Acker, the nurse, will probably be dead soon. It says "guest starring Amy Acker" at the start of every show, so I do not expect her to stay. I do not like the head security guard, I like the actor, just not his character. The boss lady doesn't seem to have much direction yet, I'm ambivalent towards her.

I'm with you 100% on the characters and episode three OY OY OY GAWD I hated that episode and still, that horrible song is in my head every now and then. It just pops in there out of the blue to make me groan.

I didn't hear a single verse of the song. i saw it coming and *boop*boop*'d the tivo right past it until it looked like people were talking instead of singing. I obviously saved my sanity by doing so.

I watched the music bits on one-tick fast forward, actually. So I saw what was happening at a faster pace, but without the horrible music. And this last episode was meh. It didn't bore me, and there was some slight progression in the Alpha storyline. C'mon episode #6, where supposedly everything is fixed!

What I watched of Episode 6 was definitely better than the previous episodes.
