I like when both parties have some topiary skills. As for tongue scrapping. I don't have to scrape my tongue, but I use the little tongue-nubby thing on the back of my toothbrush and that keeps it nice and pink.
I can't imagine needing to scrape a layer of anything off it. What the hell are people ingesting that give them white or yellow thrush mouths?

Yep I sure have. Skin's too sensitive for going bald, but I get the same haircut down south as I do up top.Klast Brell wrote:You even walk a mile in those shoes? Shave your junk for a while and then see how you feel about it.
I have a full service barber

I'm hoping your wife is your barber sir!Freecare Spiritwise wrote:Yep I sure have. Skin's too sensitive for going bald, but I get the same haircut down south as I do up top.Klast Brell wrote:You even walk a mile in those shoes? Shave your junk for a while and then see how you feel about it.

So do you do it straight or a few drops in a glass of water? I remember someone recommending to me a few drops of iodine in glass of water (to gargle with) when you felt the onset of a cold, but had never heard of gargling with peroxide.Embar Angylwrath wrote:I can't stand to brush my tounge... Didn't he mention something about thinning hair in another post? When I lost enough hair on the top of my head I stopped wasting my money on barbers. I just take the clippers to my dome once a month or so. I'm guessing he also is his own barber.Harlowe wrote:I'm hoping your wife is your barber sir!

LOL. And I'd be in sorry shape if I was my own barber. She won't mess with the goatee though - dunno why...
Edit: And yeah the haircut is 3/8 ", the goat is 1/4 ".

Straight.. H2O2 comes in different concentrations though. I uses the medicinal strength, the stuff you buy in the grocery store or pharmacy. I think its 3%. If you do it, just don't swallow any of it, but it works really really well for knocking down the bacertia, as you might expect. It gets kinda foamy though sometimes.Harlowe wrote: So do you do it straight or a few drops in a glass of water? With the 2-3% you'll find in at the pharmacy, straight up - if it's stronger, bring it down to 2-3%, a 10% will need a 4:1 mix and so on. H202 is a very, very powerful oxidizer, and very high concentrations (25%+) WILL destroy flesh.Harlowe wrote:So do you do it straight or a few drops in a glass of water? Re: Any coffee geeks out there?
I've used peroxide for mouthwash. I switch between that and the stuff marketed as mouthwash only. Honestly, they would need to have had bad hygiene for a long time to get it as bad as they do. A lot of people here also eat crap.

Re: Any coffee geeks out there?
The stuff marketed just as "mouthwash" doesn't really do anything to control the bacteria, which are the root cause of swamp breath. It just masks the odor for a bit. Scraping the tounge has the same effect as the peroxide... it removes the bacterial mat on the back part of the tounge. But the peroxide also has an added benefit in that it helps destroy the bacteria that causes plaque and tooth decay. I swear by it.

Embar brings up a valid point, you can only scrape so far back before puking everything up. I may try the peroxide !

Re: Any coffee geeks out there?
Gargling peroxide isn't really any different from using any antiseptic. The benefit of the antiseptic mouthwashes (I like Listerine personally, but for no objective reasons) over the 2% peroxide is probably just taste and immediate odor mask.
You could probably wash with Lysol for better effect again over Peroxide, but it might not taste good.

If you do, try just a little. I mean a REALLY small sip, it doesn't take much. The foam action from the peroxide can induce a gag response too. Do not swallow it... it won't kill you, but you'll end up puking from the gas evolution when the peroxide hits the acid in your stomach. Even a 1/2 teaspoon of the stuff hitting stomach acid will cause most people to projectile vomit.Ariannda Kusanagi wrote:Embar brings up a valid point, you can only scrape so far back before puking everything up. Re: Any coffee geeks out there?
There's a toxicity effect that must be considered. I wouldn't put the phenyl phenols inside my body, Dd. Seriously. I think the chlorhexidine would be ok, but the phenolics... no fucking way. Phenolics can do some weird shit on proteins and DNA/RNA.Ddrak wrote:Gargling peroxide isn't really any different from using any antiseptic. I have a really sensitive gag response, too. I've found making my tongue a bowl shape helps.

Re: Any coffee geeks out there?
Doesn't that depend on the particular phenol in question? I mean Phelylanaline and Salicylic Acid are counter examples of the above statement.Embar Angylwrath wrote: Phenolics can do some weird shit on proteins and DNA/RNA.
On Lysol in particular - yeah, bad example. o-benzyl-p-chlorophenol has some nasty side effects. You win.

Re: Any coffee geeks out there?
I used a tongue scraper for a while. I lost it at some point. I should really get a new one.
I get that coating on my tongue pretty bad. I brush my tongue when I brush my teeth, but I can't get the back or the tongue without retching. The scrapper let me get way back on the tongue without gagging.

I imagine a spoon could accomplish the same thing. I just brush my tongue along with my teeth.
