That's your opinion and your entitled to it. However, you are trying to limit free speech by trying to segregate those you don't agree with. As long as they aren't violent, they have a constitutional right to attend an open government event and protest. You want to trample on the First Amendment for this?Lurker wrote:This isn't a free speech issue. If they are just there to shout down debate they need to be ejected from the town halls. Unlike Bush who had people sign loyalty oaths to attend his "town halls", nobody is trying to seperate people that disagree. People that are there to disrupt is a different matter and has nothing to do with free speech. You think organizers of public events have to allow people to disrupt that event, doing nothing, because it's a First Ammendment violation if they remove the person? Seriously?

Already done by your poster boy, wingnut. Free Speech Zones, anyone? Filtered town halls, with dissenters not even being allowed on the grounds?
Your concern troll is showing.

Re: SOMEONE'S gonna need health care
Bush never held town-halls that were "open government". Town halls were always party based and therefore not covered by the first amendment. As such, the GOP closely restricted those allowed anywhere near the places. Are Obama's any different?
There's definitely more death-threat-whackos on the right regardless of whatever shenanigans the GOP and/or the gasping corpse of neoconservatism is up to. That just goes with the politics.

I'll wait right here for your correction. By the way, that was merely the second link in a list of about 8 million.Denver attorney Dan Recht, who is representing Leslie Weiss, 39, Alex Young, 25, and Karen Bauer, 38, told The Associated Press that his clients had tickets and were not planning to disrupt anything when they were asked to leave, without explanation, before the March 21 forum.
The three, who are members of the Denver Progressives (search) political activist group, did have T-shirts tucked under their business attire calling for Bush to “stop the lies,” but a plan to brandish them during the program had been abandoned earlier and the shirts never saw the light of day, Recht said.
Secret Service (search) in Denver told the three the next day that the bumper sticker on their car, which read “No More Blood for Oil,” a common anti-Iraq war slogan, triggered the ejection.
“They were kicked out of this venue and not allowed to hear what the president had to say based solely on this political bumper sticker,” Recht told AP.
The White House later claimed the man who turned them away was a “volunteer” but did not identify him or his affiliation. Since the forum was considered an official event, neither the Colorado Republican Party nor its volunteers were involved, party officials said.

All Iraq war related shouting protests that interrupted the venue. There's plenty more example out there if you want to look, but first you have to take off the blinders.

Pretty outrageous you'd accuse anyone else of wearing blinders Embar, I'm still waiting for you to show me proof it's the same level of crazy as it is now.

If death threats are being made, then we investigate, arrest and prosecute. We have a mechanism in place to deal with it.
You seem to think that a certain number of death threats are acceptable, and that's ok. What is that number Harlowe? How many death threats can Obama get before you think its just too much?

Ddrak,
Are you meaning to say that the First Ammendment allows someone free-reign to disrupt whatever public event they choose, and that the person can't be removed?

Now Embar's trying to turn this into being about death threats.

Did you even pay attention to some of these early videos of Town Halls? EVERYONE, Republican, Independent or Democrat, in the crowds were loud and voicing their anger.Lurker wrote:Ddrak,

Re: SOMEONE'S gonna need health care
Can you back up your statement that Republican, Independent, and Democrat were voicing their anger in a totally disruptive way?
Nobody has a problem with people attending a town hall and voicing their opinion or asking tough questions and then listening to the answer. This astro-turf campaign isn't about getting their message heard, it's about intimidation and ending discussion.
People shouting down discussion at a town hall need to be removed which is what your video link of the Castor event shows. Freedom of speech doesn't guarantee you the right to disrupt other people or grant you access to a building that's filled to capacity. The tea baggers and Glenn Beck Project 9/12 thugs banging on windows and doors isn't a pretty sight. It has nothing to do with democracy and everything to do with unleashing the misinformed.

Yes, Ddrak has blinders too ...since you know, he made the same point about the increase in crazy.
I think we all know where the blinders are and they are most like Glenn Beck fans.

Re: SOMEONE'S gonna need health care
The Driehaus event here in Cincinnati had 6 total "teabaggers" and 9/12 people in the room, the rest are unknowns but have nothing to do with the people you seem to think are the "problem".
About half way through this video you'll see everyone start to get loud, more aggressive questioning and angrier. It only gets worse in this video. Its very clearly more than just 6 people being loud, angry and aggressively asking questions.
Thats ok, though. You can continue to wear your blinders and pretend like these people are being paid or are just simply crazy. There's really no use for me to try to convince you otherwise because you already have your mind made up and we know around here that once you think you're right you'll never admit you're wrong.
