Married Dating & Affairs

Post by Taxious »

Ashley Madison wrote:LIFE IS SHORT. HAVE AN AFFAIR.
http://www.ashleymadison.com/ promotes married dating and affairs through their website. Interesting idea, but I must admit I get a little gut-wrenched when I think about one of my friends/parents doing this.

How do ya'll feel about a website that promotes and helps married couples have affairs?

There are sites for everything, so this doesn't surprise or shock me. Personally, I think if you want to date, don't get married or at least be honest about what your needs are. If the other person doesn't want an "open" marriage, you either shouldn't be "dating" or married to them.

While I wouldn't want to get myself involved in that stuff, if other couples want to do it and if sites want to help them, then fine by me. The only thing I hope is that they promote honesty and openness, because should I ever end up with someone who desires it, I'd really like to know. :? Good thing I tend to date jealous types who match my own views. :D

Um... The couples aren't looking for affairs together, I don't think it's a swingers website. The site is promoting the opposite of honesty and openness.

I agree with you about this, but how do you feel about the site itself? The whole idea seems rather immoral to me, making money off of people cheating on their husbands/wives. Other dating websites are able to provide people with a means to cheat too, but it's not their sole purpose.

If it's not a swingers site, but a site to promote and profit from helping people lie and cheat on their loved ones? It's absolutely repulsive imo. I hope the lot of them are busted and lose their sig other over it.

That's exactly what it is. I guess my title of this thread was a little misleading.

Oops. Sorry, I didn't want to click, so I went by your description. I thought it was enabling couples in open marriages to search separately for new partners. If it's promoting dishonesty, then fuck that site. I hope everyone gets caught.

Theres the devoted types, and the promiscuous dating culture types. If you fall somewhere in the middle, fail will occur.

The site says they have over 4 million registered users, which is more than I thought it'd have.

I'm not that surprised to hear it. Craigslist classifieds are a good example of the sneaky culture.

Are those things even for real? I thought it was just a place to advertise prostitute services.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Ohh, it's real. Post a false ad, you'll see. Check out the missed connections, too; they're a place of stalking, pathetic, hilarious, and scary.

Most people on CL are horny and desperate, looking for sex. There's far less advertising of services. XD

Meh - whatever. Certainly not something I'm interested in, but it really doesn't surprise me there's professional services to help people screw over their partners.

Traditional, moral-romantic values imprinted upon the malleable meta-metal of our psyches by cherished authority figures mean more than simple nostalgia to some of us and thus actually influence our behavior toward and respect threshold for those we choose to date/marry/engage.
To the four million plus millions more who love others whilst proclaiming to love us, I say "get a blood test--prior to taking a 9mm sedative...please do not call me in the mourning."

mourning
Now, did you intend to write 'mourning' or did you get that one wrong after closing your dictionary?

Mourning...the other 21st century pastime. For some of us.

I've gotten dates off Craigslist. Crazy. The REAL nutter, though, I found on Match. Gaaah!
