Hell, a guy getting hit on by a gay man should take that as a compliment, they are generally very PICK-YYYYYYYY. It means your hot.

I just never understood that line, and I've heard it directly more times than I can count. My usual response is "Why the fuck would I want to hit on you?" The funny thing is most guys act all hurt and sad by this.

lol!

I have pretty good gaydar for other dudes. I suck at picking up on lesbians but it's most likely because I'm not trying to. I read an article the other day about how fags and lesbos release different pheromones compared to straighties. Homosexuals get accustomed to being around that, and then can sense it on others when in public. "I can smell the gay on you"

I'm a gay guy magnet & being a gym rat doesn't help because the gyms are super loaded with gay dudes. I love compliments regardless of gender or sexual preference because I'm an attention whore. As far as them hitting on me, well it kinda goes the same way as the ladies I imagine. I'm ok with it as long as they aren't too aggressive. They make a pass, I decline & say I'm straight. Usually this does the trick but some are a little harder to detour. The classic line of "Well have you ever tried it? No? Then how do you know! You should try it!" LOL I think that me being ok with them being gay sort of sends up a flag though. They assume because I'm not the normal homophobic gay basher that I must be gay or at least bi & that's a green light. There's a section of town here called Cooper Young (cross streets) that's very liberal area that has some super fun clubs, but every time I go I get absolutely MOLESTED on the dance floor. LOL

Anywho, I bag on my gay friends all the time. Just like I bag on my friends that like fat chics, and the ones that like girls built like 14 year old boys. I never really acknowledged a separation of gay & straight any more than I did with dudes with different preferences. I figure if you tied me up and blindfolded me and someone with soft hands started playing with my junk it would get hard. That seems all biological to me. The rest just seemed about attraction. I mean I don't find dicks attractive. I don't find fat girls attractive. Somewhere in here I'm making a point, but now I've typed so much I can't remember what it was. =)

I love this line and the fact that 95% of straight guys that say this are too ugly to get hit on by anyone, male or female.

Sorry, Partha....
Absolutely right. But then again, it's not a comment on my hotness or your desperation. It's a comment that that's not how I swing, but if you swing that way, swing away.

Completely unnecessary to add to this discussion, but those uncomfortable with their sexuality have to make sure the whole world keeps hearing they're straight, even if we already know!! :bounce: :albino: :bounce:

Another naive remark...

What about the people uncomfortable with their sexuality, but also uncomfortable with letting the whole world know?

You have soooo much to learn. Wish I could be there for the entertainment value when you do.

'Cause I was totally making a blanket statement and not ragging on the first group.

And like I said, Embar, just because you're *~*older*~* - Wait, should I add more sparkles to this specialness? - Does not mean you've met more diverse people. Otherwise, we would have as many elderly bigots and that subscribe to stereotypes and misinformation.

I would venture to say that Jaro, who's gay, and Harlowe, who said she has been active within the community - both younger than you - have encountered more gay people. But, this isn't a pissing contest where we compare their 150 to your 135. The point is, being old doesn't mean you've encountered more diverse people than a younger adult. People live in their comfortable boxes all their lives. It's how open an individual is combined with a little bit of location/access.

I don't actually know and neither do you. And like I said, it's not a pissing contest. But it's really naive to assume that being older = experiencing more types of people, which was my point the whole time. More people, perhaps, but certainly not necessarily more types.

Yes, I'd wager I've met more gay people (Especially males) than Embar. I also tend to agree with what he's said here so far. For example:
There are certain physical characteristics that tend to be more prevalent, although not exclusive, in female homosexuals.
I see nothing blatantly erroneous about this statement. Granted, we're discussing anecdotal evidence here, so it certainly wouldn't hold up against a genuine study resulting from data collected from a suitable sample size, but I'm wondering if such a study has even been done. Also consider, the qualifying portion of Embar's statement is "although not exclusive." He's not making a blanket generalization, he's merely stating the conclusions of his observations. And, especially in the 20-30 lesbian crowd, you're bound to see a lot more that qualify as "butch" than "femm." Have you ever been to a lesbian bar? Yikes.

One particularly interesting thing I noticed a couple years ago. I was dating this guy, Chris, who's mom was gay and lived with her partner and their (I don't remember how many) remaining kids. Now, this woman and her partner (I don't recall names, either :? ) were somewhere in the middle, I suppose you could say. They had a number of friends, all in the 40-50 age group, all lesbians. The women in this crowd were not your stereotypical lesbians of any sort that I was aware of, and we (Chris and I) had a number of conversations on the topic with them. Basically, they were very high class, well dressed, refined and otherwise well-to-do business women. Most of them. Chris' landlord was among the bunch, and she ran a construction company with her partner. Most of them were tall, busty, and even somewhat built - like badass female volleyball players tend to be. They had some of the physical characteristics, but none of the mannerisms, or the mullets, or the extra pounds.

Basically, they told us that being from another generation was the biggest reason they "blended in" as well as they did. I've seen the exact same phenomenon with older gay men that have taught themselves over the course of their lives to tone it down. I would even say that my conservative upbringing may be part of why most heteros don't have the slightest clue that I'm gay for a while (Either they eventually figure it out, because most people aren't stupid, or I wind up telling them outright).

Gay men? I can tell with very little difficulty. I have, in my life, encountered exactly three guys that I later found out were gay and had no clue until I was told directly about it. I wouldn't be surprised to find out I've encountered others and just never found out about their sexuality, but when I look at a guy and say to myself "oh yeah, flamer," I'm pretty much always right, even if my hetero companions can't see it. I would also say that while Embar says he may not be able to detect some of the physical characteristics for gay males, they do exist, primarily in facial structure. It's hard to describe, but I've seen some guys that just look gay, and as with those that set off my gayday by other means, I'm pretty much always right about these, too.

Bisexuals tend to be a wild card, in my experience; I've met both male and female bisexuals that were either "normal" in their behavior/appearance, and I've met those that appeared and acted "gay." And in that vein, I don't particularly believe that female bisexuals are more common than male, but more likely that male bisexuals are much more likely to remain closeted. Which I don't particularly mind - the more suppressed their sexuality, the more fun they are when you get their clothes off. :D

LOL, well it's true. I honestly wish I was gay. I'd get laid more with a HELL of a lot less effort. Not to mention gay dudes, at least out of the closet ones, are so much more comfortable with themselves. I'm boisterous cause I don't give a fuck, but to get most people to let go & actually have fun you have to get them drunk. Social taboos can go fuck themselves.

Oh yeah and by the way the fucking douchebags that are gay and have to make sure that EVERYONE around them knows it are annoying. Plus I never really understood that "I'm gay so I have to act as feminine as I can" thing either. I think a lot of "gay" is just the trendy shit. Kinda the same thing with tats & piercings & such. There's legit reasons for all that but probably half the idiots that do it are just doing so as some sort of fashion look at me statement. And yes I do believe that there are people who adapt to a certain lifestyle, gay or otherwise, to fit in.
