WoW - Playing a Priest/Healer

Post by Alluveal »

Ok, so I've recently gotten back into WoW. I have a troll priest that's level 66 and love the Burning Crusade random dungeon finder.

I have shadow primary specialization and holy as secondary (took forever to afford that)!

When I first started doing dungeons, things went great. Now, it seems like 3 out of 5 groups suck ass. They have some DK with 6000 health (I have 5500 health) "tanking." This usually means everyone else pulls aggro (including me, when I heal) and no amount of FADE or guardian shield or sacrificing a small chicken to the dungeon gods is helping.

Am I just getting sucky groups? Or, is there a trick to this holy priest thing? Anyone know?

Sucky groups. I usually go to wowarmory.com and check the tanks gear before I heal them, if they don't have a good amount of HP (the amount of HP they have is a good indicator too, if its only a little more than yours RUN).

With the random cross realm dungeon finder you don't have a lot of choice with who you group with. You can bail on the group, but you need to wait 15 mins before you can queue again.

I get mostly good groups with the random finder at 80. Some suck, but even then you can usually get through. One recent group I did 97% of all the damage but we did finish. The tank was actually really good at holding aggro from me as long as I was somewhat careful and stuck to single targets. Most of the time we completely outgear the place and it's just a 15 minute emblem farm.

I'd tank for you, teehee.

/brag : Maybe i'll reactivate and transfer or something. 80 tankadin with 39k/uncrushable (unbuffed). Quit right before Uludar.

My troll mage just got to level 60 and is enjoying the burning crusade as well. Wow, what a difference in the gear! I'm still working on enough $$ to dual spec though - how did you raise 1k gold already?? I'm not even close...

I've definitely noticed what you are talking about in terms of the random dungeon finder sucking from level 55+ as every tank I've had since then has been a DK and also sucked rotten ass. I'd never had a failed dungeon group until I played with a DK tank for the first time. I dunno what's going on there but it's really fucking annoying to pull aggro with one frostbolt, let alone do a blizzard and have all the mobs on me.

They need to do something about tanking in general as the queue is always waiting on them. I think the minimum I've waited for a tank (as a single DPS'er) was 15 minutes and the max was a few hours (before I just gave up and went to bed). Maybe the tank in the group gets an extra bag of goodies or some kind of extra compensation so that we can have more of them.

No, they need to make it so anyone wearing plate from 55-63 can tank that lower content while they amass tank gear.

.... how does that solve the "lack of tanks entering the queue" issue?

I can tank just fine on my 58 DK!

I just got him to level 60 last night and wow, death and decay makes ahellofa difference for keeping aggro! Why wouldn't they just give DKs that at level 55???

You may be able to tank just fine with no tank gear at 58, but other people can't because they take pure DPS gear and decide they can tank too.

If you check Facebook I know where you can get a geared Druid for cheap!

You're just getting bad tanks. I have no trouble keeping aggro with my 63 DK (I wouldn't be tanking if it weren't for the almsot instant Q time), even off of people higher level than me. Just be happy you're not rolling as DPS into an 80 Heroic where the tank has only a couple thousand more HP than you do. I'd say about half the time I have to switch into Bear Form just to keep myself alive because most tanks suck.

66 is a hard level to dungeon at because it's a rare occasion to find someone who isn't still using crappy 50's gear or greens. What server are you on, anyway?

Tax- as a Mage, no point to Dual Spec until you hit 80 and start PvPing. If you don't ever plan on PvPing, stick with an Arcane spec.

Garrdor- Crushing blows were removed from the game.
I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

Uncrushable and Uncrittable are still regarded as the same thing, and Uncrittable is what he meant.
