I must be losing my fucking mind here.

I visit a message board and in one of the sections, there's a thread about Supernatural (the show). Two guys (brothers) who hunt demons and bad shit. Right?

This woman gets on the board and starts going off about how she watched an episode where Dean beat the shit out of a demon (who was in a woman's body) and her interest in the show came to a screeching halt. She then said that she wondered if the writers might have Dean "rape the evil" from the woman's possessed body, and that the writers portrayed such a scene because they were raging, misogynistic assholes.

She said that she removed herself from the "fictional element" of the story and just saw a man beating a woman.

Okay, well, isn't the purpose of watching a fictional (supernatural/fantasy) show about uh... I don't know . . . going along with the world and the narrative? Maybe I'm a fucking moron to think that way?

What the hell? Where do these assholes come from? Isn't it a form of censorship to demand that a show's fictional world (and all characters in it) adhere to their notion of social justice? Let's just forget that it's not really a woman, but a demon out to suck your soul and eat a nursery full of babies.
