Second debate

Post by Harlowe »

Obama was ON tonight. Romney was clearly rattled and called out on the facts by not only Obama, but Crowley.

He did a great job. Game on.

Certainly WAY better than the first round. Was kinda blown away by Romney on women. His ideas on wage disparity is damn near outright offensive. Romney is still doing better than I expected, but yeah Obama came back full force. Good job.

Fox News transcripts erase 4 minutes of Romney last night from the debate. Shocking!
http://wonkette.com/487059/fox-news-wat ... mneys-life

This part...
We, of course, don’t want to have automatic weapons, and that’s already illegal in this country to have automatic weapons. What I believe is we have to do, as the president mentioned towards the end of his remarks there, which is to make enormous efforts to enforce the gun laws that we have, and to change the culture of violence that we have.

And you ask how — how are we going to do that? And there are a number of things. He mentioned good schools. I totally agree. We were able to drive our schools to be number one in the nation in my state. And I believe if we do a better job in education, we’ll — we’ll give people the — the hope and opportunity they deserve and perhaps less violence from that. But let me mention another thing. And that is parents. We need moms and dads, helping to raise kids. Wherever possible the — the benefit of having two parents in the home, and that’s not always possible. A lot of great single moms, single dads. But gosh to tell our kids that before they have babies, they ought to think about getting married to someone, that’s a great idea.

Obama did better. He could hardly do worse. I didn't get to see the enitre thing, got about half of it, here and there. What I saw was lead me to believe there wasn't much from either to sway independents either way. It was a play to each of their bases. Obama had a win in that he gave as good as he got. Romney got a win in that he didn't lose ground. Again, more important to their respective bases than to indpendents looking for something to move them either way.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Both men showed up and put on a good show.

The thing that bothered me about last night was the obvious softball questions and bias from the moderator. Otherwise, Romney held himself well and got in a few points on Obama. Obama got in a few points, but was often crying to the moderator when Romney went over (notice, Romney didn't cry to teacher when Obama went over). Really it seemed like it was the Moderator and Obama debating against Romney most of the night.

You are drunk, Romney was the one whining to the moderator about time. She didn't let him walk all over her like Leher did. It's all over the Web that Obama won this one. You guys can't handle him doing well and Romney fumbling, you can't bring yourself to be anywhere near honest about it.

At least people were honest about Obama when he didn't do well. I saw it from his supporters. That's something you two and your side can't seem to muster. It's always a tie when they fail.

Romney "Binders of Women".....failing on immigration comments, failing on Libya, failing on equal pay for women, failing on China. Lying over and over again (the fact check data will tell you that). He failed last night.

Yep, when the leader of the United States of America cries to a moderator of a debate and gets her to back him up on something (and then she later says that Romney was correct, but "worded it wrong") he's clearly the winner.

Obama had 9% more speaking time because he whined any time Romney went over. Yes, Romney argued for a chance to speak... but thats because it was so clear that Obama was getting much more time to answer than he was.

Any fact check data will also show you how often Obama lied in the debate. They're politicians, of course they're liars when its beneficial to them. Look at how often this Administration has "stretched the truth" in the past four years (hell, they're already trying to change the history of how they handled the situation with Libya).

Nobody cares that it took two weeks to officially label it an act of terrorism. Good luck with that line of attack. Romney looked like an ass trying to make an issue out of it.

Theres a major issue with that, considering they were blaming it on a Youtube video and trying to deny the makers their First Amendment rights by pressuring Google to take it down.

19 Reported Dead as Pakistanis Protest Muhammad Video

Violent crowds furious over an anti-Islamic video made in the United States convulsed Pakistan’s largest cities on Friday, leaving up to 19 people dead and more than 160 injured in a day of government-sanctioned protests.

It was the worst single day of violence in a Muslim country over the video, “Innocence of Muslims,” since protests began nearly two weeks ago in Egypt, before spreading to two dozen countries. Protesters have ignored the United States government’s denunciation of the video.
Yes, clearly trying to get Google to remove the video as hate speech was all about the attack in Libya.

Too bad Romney isn't dumb enough to follow the wingnut lead on this and try to make this a First Amendment issue. That would go over well.

The administration made it a first amendment issue when they pressured Google to take it down, but of course you don't see it that way. You'd rather people not have their "feelings hurt".

Oh well, Obama made himself look like a weakling by running to the Moderator whenever he felt threatened by anything Romney said that was factual and hurt his campaign. If thats what "Presidential" looks like in the future of our country, please count me out.

What did Romney say in 1985 that threatened Obama again? I missed it during Webster reruns.

The video has the same first amendment protections as yelling "Niggers suck dicks" at an NAACP convention, or yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater. You do not have the right to say whatever you want, and never have.

Your description of the debate has taken biased and inaccurate to new heights.

I'm being completely serious when I say this... if you really saw the debate the way you described it, your mind has been severely damaged by constant exposure to right-wing propaganda and you should seek immediate help.

Pollsters see it differently Harlowe. At best, Obama had a slight edge coming out of the debate. The guy you like, Nick Silver, even stated that might be because OPbama didn't suck as bad this time. In other words, he polled slighly better because he exceeded some low expectations.
