The Conjuring

Post by Harlowe »

One of the many things I'm a sucker for is ghost story/haunting type movies, so I'm going to see this. Hauntings and demonic things are two of the only things that truly scare the beejesuz out of me in a movie. I don't know why I like that, I know I'll feel unsettled about the crawlspace not 6 feet away from my side of the bed for a week and probably have creepy dreams....but I can't help it.

I definitely plan on seeing it. The Warrens have been haunting staple for a long-ass time. I remember reading a book by them when I was in like 6th grade, about how people can get possessed playing with Ouija boards.

Harlowe, you should check out Coast to Coast sometime, if you haven't already. It's an AM radio show that's world-wide. If you're up past 11pm one night, look for it. They have a plethora of UFO, hauntings, demon-like stuff on it. Lorraine Warren has been a guest numerous times and her interviews always freak me the fuck out.

Go here to find a station near you:

You do have to wade through some "gov't is watchin' us" type stuff. It seems libertarian bent at times. Just look at some of their past shows.

They had one guest on, geesh, 10 years ago, named Father Malachi Martin. He used to perform exorcisms. I swear to God, I did not sleep that night. I was so freaked out.

The EVP episodes always terrify me, too.

Cool, I'll check that out! Out of the paranormal shows, the only one I really liked (that I've seen so far) is Paranormal State. Warren was on that one and Ryan Buell always seems like a sincere guy (he's battling with cancer right now, poor dude). Speaking of dudes, I don't like the "bro-hunter" ghost shows. You know, where they go in and try to BULLY the alleged ghosts to come out by yelling at them in their Ed Hardy or Affliction t-shirts.

Yeah, I like Paranormal State as well. And she has been on that! That's right. I haven't seen a new episode of that in a while.

They haven't made a new one for a few years I think. They had maybe one episode or so, with "the next class" or whatever but I don't think that worked out for them. Ryan wasn't on it, so it was missing a pretty key personality. It was just a bunch of new college kids basically.

They probably all graduated, didn't they? :) It seemed to be a grad-school thing if I recall.

I saw it today and It was a decent scary movie. As usual, the end kind of gets a bit over-the-top, but a good overall heebie-jeebie inducing flick.

I saw it this afternoon. Really enjoyed it. It has solid story and wasn't all wham/bam/jumping out crap. It had heart. Maybe that's the best way to put it.

I hope they do a sequel--especially with the mention of the "House in Long Island" that they needed to visit. Amityville house?
