Seriously Amazon. WTF????

Post by Kliban Nimbledigits »

I ordered Series 5 of Doctor Who from Amazon.com and it has been shipped to me. Actually it arrived here in Portland, OR after being shipped from the Amazon warehouse in Kent, WA, just a mere 153.8 miles away, at 6:00 am this morning. The expected arrival date was the 25th of July. The FedEx hub where it is sitting is only 3 miles away form my house but Amazon won't let it be delivered to my house until the 25th because Amazon stated that he delivery date of the 25th is "set in stone" due to the charges set within my order. Having it arrive in two days instead of three would be a conflict of there 2-day/3-day delivery fees.

Let me throw in a WTF to FedEx too as they won't let me walk down to the hub and pick it up.

I WANT TO START MY DOCTOR WHO MARATHON NOW!!! Series 5 is the last series I need. Picked up all the rest at Costco for dick cheap.
Mal: Seems we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?

Zoe: Big damn heroes, sir.

Mal: Ain't we just.

The current Dr. Who is HUGE in the US, especially with the 20-30ish crowd. Popularity-wise it seems like the Big Bang Theory of the sci-fi crowd.

I agree though, he is no David Tennant.

I could not get into this show. I just couldn't. It seemed too, "We accept everything strange going on all the time. Freeze FRAME. Surprised look. The end of the world. Zoinks! Time to make cheeky comments. This isn't THAT serious. HA ha HA! We're all going to die. Oops! Maybe not."

I think I'm just one of those people who thrives on drama and the human element and Dr. Who just never took itself seriously enough for me.

I also think that if I gave it a chance, it might stick, but there really are other things out there I'd rather be watching. :)

I'm not much of a Dr. Who fan either. I started watching it when Christopher Eccleston was the doctor, and I kind of liked him best, but David Tennant was really good as well. I just couldn't get into Matt Smith, even though people were going nuts over him - he has a huge following even in the US.

He's just too goofy for me. The series was already on the edge of losing my interest with some of it's cheese-factor and he put it over the edge.

David Tennant was the best doctor. Matt Smith is quirky and I don't really like him... I only stuck with watching it because of the companions (who in my opinion have out shined Matt Smith).
Warlord Fallakin Kuvari - 85 Wood Elf Warrior, Brell Serilis forever.
Grandmaster Nikallaf Kuvari - 70 Iksar Monk.

I agree with that (the companions are better). I still haven't seen more than a handful of the episodes though. :|

Haven't watched an episode since Tom Baker. Might have to someday.

I started watching Dr. Who right at the end of John Pertwee's run and then all the way to Sylvester McCoy. I have to say Tom Baker was by far the best Dr.

Basically the same as Kulaf here - watched religiously from end of Pertwee to McCoy and sporadically since. Tom Baker was definitely the best for me as well.
