The Wolverine

Post by Kulaf »

I liked it......but didn't love it. It was a pretty good adaptation of that entire Japan saga that occurred in the comics. It had some glaring technical problems which I will put in the spoiler section. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Ok so apparently when you heat up metal to red hot it makes it cut through hardened metal like butta. What? And why did they need to cut off his claws so they could drill into him and steal his regeneration exactly? Why not just go through some other place on his body? And how can you pull adamantium plate off a suit anyway? That really knocked my opinion of the movie down a few notches.

I am not excited enough about this one to see it, but I heard it was better than the last one... which wouldn't be hard. Anyway, spoil it for me. He does get all his shit back in the end right?

Nope. Adamantium claws were cut off. He is back to bone claws.

WTF? That sucks. What about the healing factor?

Adamantium is not part of his natural body and therefore doesn't heal.

Spoilers are go...

So if they only cut off the claws, does that mean his skeleton is still adamantium?

Hmm... I thought I remembered in the comics them taking all the adamantium out when he got the bone claws?

To extend on that:

He later had all the Adamantium re-injected to his skeleton. The Adamantium being taken from his body had nothing to do with Japan or Silver Samurai, it had everything to do with Magneto ripping out all the metal in his body (X-men #25). He later has it all re-bonded (once unsuccessfully by Genesis, then successfully by Apocalypse).

The Jabberwocky, as a literary work, has a better grip on physics and material science than Marvel and its derivative works. Always has been that way, from the ground up. Anyone else remember when Colossus's power worked by switching out something or another in his body for Osmium, a metal which auto-volatizes in open air, producing a toxic oxide with an exposure limit measured in the parts per trillion? Yeah.

Grumble... I ended up seeing this yesterday and really wasn't impressed. $40 for a movie these days for 2... sheesh.

Didn't the Silver Samurai have mutant powers to teleport and multiply himself? I don't remember that green viper at all from the xmen show I used to watch. Why did she peel off her skin near the end only to look basically the same (minus the hair)? Seemed kind of pointless. She's immune to all poison, and the poison of the human race, wut?

I generally like super hero movies and LOVE xmen, but I'd probably give this a 3 out of 10.

Silver Samurai was actually a bodyguard for Viper......who in the comics had no powers at all. Silver Samurai could use his mutant power to enhance his sword to make it cut through almost anything. His ability to teleport was from a ring Viper had.

What they really didn't cover was that clan Yashida had borrowed money from the Yakuza and that was why they were after the girl so they would get repaid.

Wait. The reason I was asking about his healing factor is because from the trailer they indicated they were taking those away. So he didn't get his metal back, but did he get his healing factor back or was it not taken?

It was reduced by introducing a mechanical creature into him made of carbonadium (if they followed the comic) which slows his healing factor. So he never got his powers stolen, they just cut off his claws and his bones are still laced with adamantium.

In the comics he loses his adamantium when Magneto rips it out of his body, but later gets it back by again going through the fusion process.

Still haven't bothered to watch this, but, snakes, shed their skin from time to time, as they outgrow their skin. Snakes may or may not be immune to their own and each other's venoms. Basically, they're making Viper into, you know, a viper.

Yeah.. thanks :disgust:

In the movie, she does it in the middle of the end fight making it seem like it would reveal some kind of new super power or, you know, be more useful than just making her bald.

I thought maybe they were going to use another actor. Like she was shedding that appearance and was going to have a new one.
