#1 - Jon actually dying sort of fizzles the Wall story arc. I think he's too important to just disappear at this moment.
#2 - Martin said that Jon would find out his parentage, and that hasn't happened yet.
#3 - in an interview, Martin said not to be too quick to assume people are dead.
So I'm hoping the reason he didn't feel the 4th stab was due to him wargin' into Ghost or something. Maybe Melisandre can bring him back with her fire god mojo.

He's certainly not out of the picture, but the speculation on how that's going to come forward is pretty wild.

I just realised Martin gave away the true story arc in his series title: A Song of Ice and Fire. The whole things is Ice (White Walkers) vs Fire (The Red God). Yeah, I know. I'm slow.

I really don't think he's dead. Well, mostly dead. Really dead. Whatever.

I read an interview somewhere (cannot remember) where a fan asked him about Jon Snow's death and he chuckled and said, "Oh, you think he's dead?" Then again, he could be super clever and trying to outsmart everyone. Martin is true evil at times. We know this.

The prologue had the guy who was stuck warged into a wolf (if I remember). Not sure why they would include that if it didn't mean something to the story. If Jon is dead for good, then yeah, wtf is up with that prologue?

My take is that he'll warg into ghost. They'll toss his body under the wall (where they mentioned numerous times that they put the other bodies). Melisandre will revive him. She'll see him as Azor Ahai, imho. (I think he's a piece of that mystery.) I think because of the snow and ice, his body will be frozen and make for easier resurrection. Lady Stoneheart is but a shadow of Catelyn Stark. But she was pretty much freakin' GONE. Like, lying in a ditch facedown, holy shit. Done. Jon's body on ice will keep him fresher.

I think Martin also needed a way for Jon to get out of the Night's Watch. Only death can sever that bond. Guess what? He's dead! Nobody ever said anything about what happens if he rises up again.

Jon as Azor Ahai... A bit on that....

Jon's wounds smoke while Bowen Marsh cries, providing the prophesied salt, and Ser Patrek's bloody, star laden heraldry is in the air above. with Jon or snow, which he thinks must just be ash but she sees a possible connection to Jon.

When Melisandre looks into her fires for Azor Ahai, she sees only things to do

Jon Snow has a dream where he fights the Others with a red sword burning in his hand.

If having the Blood of the Dragon is a prerequisite, if Jon's father is truly Rhaegar, Jon would satisfy that prerequisite. He would be the grandson of Aerys and Rhaella and thus come from their line.

Jon chose his duty to the Night's Watch over his love for Ygritte. He indirectly caused her death by warning Castle Black of the incoming wildling raid. Similar to Azor Ahai sacrificing Nissa Nissa to complete Lightbringer.[/list]
