The poor pacing of Walter Mitty

Post by Massterloo »

I wanted to like it, even as I was watching it. I wanted to like it. Even in the second half of it.....And there are 2 halves of it. And the second half is as much a let down, as much as the first is good. Stiller tries to be twisty. The twist? There are 2, and both predictable in the good half. Confirmed in the 2nd. The good half is slow, because its a lot of set up. The second is just damn slow.
Hidden Information!
There is no reason Mitty had to stop in mid hunt for Sean Penn's character. His hunt should have been all one adventure. His love interest should have been in more delusions to urge him on. The twist would have been better if he kept the wallet the whole time. Mom selling the piano, just a big downer. A long back story for a un needed downer moment. The movie also suffers from "The Dark Knight Teleport" machine. The Sean Penn guy does it between picture 24, and 26. And Mitty does it to go around the world TWICE in 12 days, as well as having 2 scenes that show only a fraction of those 2 trips that should have taken a month each

Haven't been excited to see a Ben Stiller movie since Tropic Thunder & that was only because of the supporting cast.
