Can't remember the last time I saw a giant chain make a decision that wasn't based completely on greed. Praise them.

I hate going into a CVS store...but good for them. I'm sticking with Walgreens. It might be a regional thing, but I've shopped there forever, I like Walgreens and have no intention of jumping ship over one issue.

Is there a big difference? I don't even know. I always just go to whatever is the closest. And usually that's just to grab a drink or something.

Re: CVS to halt the sale of Cigs
I've just always been really annoyed with the inside of CVS stores, I don't like their lay out or selection. It always felt geared more towards old farts. I liked Walgreens pharmacy better, the photo area and cosmetic and sports shit was better as well in Walgreens. Could be a regional thing as well, since Walgreens originated in Chicago, maybe our experience with them is better in the midwest.
Also working in the past with CVS vs Walgreens merchandise planogram people was a huge difference. Walgreens had their shit nailed down. Kind of like Target vs. Walmart. Speaking of Walmart, they were the shittiest company to deal with by a long shot. They always over or under ordered crap to the extreme and sent cases upon cases every month of returned product from mixed vendors (none of which our product) back to us, took automatic credits for thousands of dollars of shit and refused to take the crap back they sent to us - some of it being expired OTC products. That never happened with Target. They aren't some sort of saintly company, they just had their shit together - other than this recent hacking situation, compliments of them having their HVAC service log in remotely apparently.

Walgreens is a relatively new player here. CVS, too, tbh. Good for CVS on this one, though. If they really do want to position themselves as a one-stop shop for health, then dropping a couple billion in cigarette sales could give them the better image they need to score tens of billions on doctors visits - and a worthy attaboy.Harlowe wrote:Also working in the past with CVS vs Walgreens merchandise planogram people was a huge difference. They get a few minutes to bask in that, then it's time to get them to stop selling homeopathic fraud potions.
And Harlowe, as far as I can tell, they story you're telling me is that Walmart has its shit together; it's stealing every dollar it could from you.

CVS is also more expensive than walgreens. for instance i had a scrip for some meds that i had been paying 18 dollars for but transferred them to CVS because they were much closer. omfg they wanted 80 dollars. i went back to walgreens so fast!
