Royals v Giants

I've been a long suffering (very long suffering) Royals fan. They are playing some of the best ball I've ever seen, especially on defense. Some of the more recent games have had phenomenal defensive plays. I'm really looking forward to the World Series. The Giants play a very different kind of ball. The Royals don't have heavy power at the plate, so they have to win with good defense, excellent pitching, and playing good, old fashioned baseball basics. Giants have the edge in the starting pitching, but I think the Royals have a better bullpen. The current Giants squad has some deep experience in the post season, and they have some bombers at the plate. If the Royals pitch well, and play good D, they can neutralize that advantage. But they will have to play almost perfect ball to do it. Errors will kill the Royals.

Even if I wasn't a Royals fan, I would still be glued to the this World Series because of the big differences between the teams on how they played ball. It's a match-up between power hitters and a strong first line pitching squad (Giants), and a superb defense, deep bullpen, and excellent baseball basics (Royals).

Since the Royals are a low market team, I don't expect a lot of national coverage. But I bet Japan is tuning in!

That said, I'm not watching because I don't want to hear about and see all the Giants and their fans.
