As hard as it is to take this post seriously, I feel that I have to give you some serious advice Pagana.
I'm not a Wiccan or Pagan; I had an old friend who was. I might be wrong here and completely off base. If I am, someone please correct me.
Wicca/Paganism is a serious path to enlightenment for some people. It, however, suffers the fate of being one of the most bastardized religions on the planet. The original reason for this doesn't really matter, but there is a reason it still isn't taken seriously by many, as many other earlier outcast religions now are.
Wicca/Paganism, because of the stereotype "witchcraft," attracts alot of people who themselves see the religion by its stereotype and not what it is. It is a way to higher self-actualization through living in harmony with what is around you. Wiccans typically incorporate visualization exercises, candle magick, and other types of "spell" prayers into their worship. One who truly takes this religion seriously would not place a curse or hex on someone. I believe there is actually a Wiccan saying ( a pretty major one ), I don't know the exact words to it ( someone please correct me ), that says something like "And it harm none, let it be done." True Wiccans are very concerned with the benevolence of their rituals. And to most, they are just that, rituals. They don't go around shooting out lightning from their fingertips, or turning people into frogs. Magicks are used by wiccans in worship, and it is my belief ( I'm not a Wiccan/Pagan, so this is just my belief ), that these "spells" work from subconciously expanding the mind through deep thought and meditation, the divination method ( the candle, the chant, what have you ) is just a way to focus the mind. It's amazing what can be done with a focused mind; it's common knowledge that we only use 25% of ours.
But there are people, because of it's previous association with devil worship and the like, who involve themselves in paganism for all the wrong reasons. People who want to be the "evil gothic witch girl," and think that this is the way for them to do it. People who want to curse others. This is the reason that this stereotype perpetuates itself. People buy into the stereotype, and want to join the religion because of it. They then read into the religion what they want ( A major part of Wiccans are Solitary Practicioners, and incorporate their own views, which is great ), and mutate this great religion into the mangled stereotype that they previously saw it as, and that, because of them, the future will see it as.
Pagana, you are distorting something that many people take seriously and preforming a great travesty upon these good people. I know people who have lived this religion, and it can be a great thing. Also I know people who have torn it down, much like you did in your post.
Please stop perpetuating this stereotype. If you want to curse people, look into something like Voo Doun or Devil Worship ( NOT Satanism, satanism and devil worship are completely different ), or read some of Crowley's books.
And to the Wiccan's who read this board, sorry you have to deal with this, blessed be or whatever.

Beek...you'd convert if it was "Hot Lesbian Snake Worshipers"
True Wicca is very meditative. It's about being in tune with yourself, and the world around you. In fact, a true Wicca would laugh at the thought of "curses", because that thought is so alien to their beliefs.
Wicca, like most "earth" religions (Native American, Druidism, etc.) Promotes the understanding of energies of each living thing around us. To harm one of these energies in a negative manner (not food or necessity based) is against their higher beliefs.
Wicca is NOT tarot or crystal balls. Candles and other objects are used to help "center" the mind. Much like the "oooohhhmmmm" sound is used in Yoga. Centering the mind is a relaxing exercise, I know many people that do this in one form or another.

I debated a long time before posting about this. So people already know, some don't, but Geli and I are Pagan. Pagana's post both angered and saddened me.OMG ICKHOR wrote:And to the Wiccan's who read this board, sorry you have to deal with this, blessed be or whatever.
She used paganism/witchcraft in it's sterotypical fashion. "You made me angry so I'm going to hex you.", and really, it doesn't work that way. This is a game (albeit sometimes a frustrating game) but to take someone seriously enough that she would consider using magick against another person is just totally wrong.
This gives us a bad rap that we do NOT deserve.
To PAGANA: Haven't you ever heard of "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" It's a game and I can't believe you would give people such a idea of what we are and what we do. My guess is that your "Paganism" is a way to impress your friends as you have no knowledge of the true meaning of Karma or it's implications.
Do you honestly thing the Gods are going to do something to a guy for cussing you out over the internet? NO, I don't believe they would. Even with the three fold law, what's going to happen to him? Someone's going to cuss him out three times?
Thankfully most people here realised how psycho you sounded and took your words with a grain of salt.
To everyone else on the boards: Please know that Pagana is not representative of about 90% of pagans. There are fanatics in every religion.
