I am not confusing types and tokens. Both of the quoted sentences were in the midst of a conversation regarding a specific hyperbole you wrote.

First you have to understand the general case of the hyperbole and then you have to apply it. Were I not talking about the general case of the hyperbole I never would have directed you to the dictionary reference which has no bearing on the specifics of this case.

You obviously did not understand what a hyperbole was and how it could be used. That comment was not stating there was a point in that hyperbole, only your inability to understand how they are used and this pointless semantical argument does nothing to change that argument.

Oh cry me a river. I invest just as much time and energy as anyone else.

I made a comment and someone asked a question. I answered that question and a discussion developed from it. The point of that discussion changed dramatically from the goal of the original statement that spawned it.

Because that statement was not the only one where I used the hyperbole. In the discussion that followed it was necessary that if it was to continue you would understand hyperbole and how it can be used for there to be any point.

You are conflating the original statement and the discussion that followed when they quite honestly are not coming from the same motivations.
