If you can disregard the fact that Boondox is associated with ICP, he's dope as hell. He fuses country and rap together pretty nicely.

Also, I'd like to throw in Tech N9ne cause he's fuckin' awesome.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'd also like to nominate some old (and often forgotten tracks):

Spice 1 - Strap on the Side

Crucial Conflict - Hay

Goodie Mob - Cell Therapy

and finally Mo Thug Family - Ghetto Cowboy

Lotsa rap there. And just as important as modern day rap.
That's true, but the reason most people can remember Eminem lyrics and not Poe is because they can identify with those rap songs. It's more accesible to the average person than Poe is, though that lack of accessibility is mostly symbolic in the information age. But still, there's a cultural disconnect, which is what I think you were getting at.
Fun fact: I had all of The Raven memorized in 7th grade for a class assignment (we were only required to memorize like 2 verses of any poem of our choice).

Have you seen the music vid for this song?? Hilarious! Beefy bodyguard women on 4wheelers ftw.

A Tribe Called Quest was the first concert I ever attended. Was when I was 15 years old, at Vassar College. My friend drove illegally (stole his dad's car, he was 15 also.)

I actually used to think Kanye West was the biggest dipshit ever and didn't want to give anything of his a chance 'til a friend of mine got me listening to his stuff. Graduation is one of my top 5 favorite albums ever of any genre. He still is kind of a dipshit though, tbh. This is one of his earlier songs, and the video is animated by Bill Plympton (if you grew up in the early to mid 90's, he had a lot of animation clips that aired during the Beavis & Butthead/Liquid Television era of MTV.) I couldn't find a higher quality audio with the original video for this one that I was able to embed.

Hands down my favorite rapper. Also the only one with balls enough to call out Puff Daddy before he was able to completely shit up hip-hop with his shiny suits and "beats" that were literally exact imports of some semi-popular 80's songs that no one of that generation would be able to recall, being sung over by some jackass that could barely form coherent sentences. This ruined Jeru's career, though, and marked the exact turning point where money overpowered creativity. End result: Soulja Boy, Waka Flocka Flame, Jimmy from DeGrassi, Snoop Dogg making songs with fuckin' Big Time Rush (Nickelodeon boy band.)

Thanks Puff Daddy.

Graduation over College Dropout? You're doing your Kanye wrong. His first album is by far his best entry. Most of his other albums have 4-5 good tracks and the rest is filler or bullshit skits.

I'm having a hard time getting past all those Travis Barker remixes. I guess I don't get out much because I missed these lol. I've never thought much of Blink 182 but at least on these remixes, this dude fuckin' rocks.

'Graduation' has sentimental value for me. Reminds me of hanging out in New Paltz, picking up college chicks and getting drunk white kids to freestyle in the street at 4am while the hippies would play their weird hippie instruments as background music. Oh, and the hilarious fist fights that would break out. [/teary-eyed]

What'd you think of the other stuff, though? I have tons more, could talk about this all day/night.

Jeru isn't bad, though he usually just makes me want to listen to Del the Funkee Homosapien.

I'd also like to nominate my favorite rap group, Swollen Members.

I could link you awesome tracks all day.

He is essentially the reason Blink 182 became famous... He's sick on the drums.

I like rock as much as I like rap, so I've got a man crush on Travis Barker.

This is the best one I think:

Edit: Once I'm done with Barker-fest I plan on making sure I've listented to every song in this thread!
