If the FCC doesn't regulate cable channles then why the hell are they censored to hell and back? (yes that is a serious question) my bad I always thought the FCC was in control of thier censorship, however it seems they have another regulatory body governing them if Walrus is correct.

I believe that they are self censored. Though, I could be wrong.

That's true... Their Cabinet replacements to date have been worse than the people they were replacing.

Cable channels are censored by the almighty dollar. There are millions of people out there who appreciate familiy oriented programming, and pay-per-view and premium channels work pretty well for the racier stuff.

The FCC has expressed interest in expanding its regulatory powers to include cable and satellite. I don't know about the rest of you but to me, that's a problem. They're getting entirely too big for their britches.

Walrus, if the FCC isn't slapped back down though, expect to see their fines coming to cable and satellite providers near you--Meaning content hacked apart with censorship. Meaning possibly higher rates. Meaning discouraging filmmakers from being edgy because their work won't be able to make it intact onto cable.Have fun with the beast you so dearly love, it's people like you that make it possible.

And before you cry out "but I said cable shouldn't be censored" think about it. You also say that parents aren't responsible enough to protect their children from inappropriate content. While I think that's hogwash, unfortunately a lot of people agree with you.

In a household with cable, the children of parents who "irresponsibly" do not choose to enable passcodes or other blocks have access to a much wider array of sexier and more violent content. Should those children be "protected" any less? The FCC sure doesn't think so.

This isn't a slippery slope, this is what is coming.
