I have watched this case after being alerted,
the efforts to save Terri Shiavo should be concerted,
we all hope and pray that the feeding tube will be reinserted.

If you cannot comprehend the fact that the body is part of the person then you really need to regain yoru senses. Unless you can show me the technology that allows an individual to "enter the matrix" and survive without a body your point is nothing more then verbal masturbation.

The body sustains the conscious mind, however it does not require it. Your statement is a logical fallacy - I claim that the body can exist without the mind and you argue the mind cannot exist without the body. A -> B does not imply B -> A.

You have offered zero evidence to support your claim that the body can exist without the mind (A->B). But I will do it for you. You most certainly can keep the body alive by cutting off the neck and setting up a heart bypass machine and a breathing machine. Yet that really doesn't answer the question we are dealing with.

We are dealing with what is considered alive and what is not rather then claiming that the mind cannot exist without the body.

Relbeek claims that Terry is dead but here body continues to live on. The individual Terry cannot exist without the body or the mind. Life requires a mind whether it consist of the genetic code found in single cell organisms, the concious minds of fully functioning humans, and what is inbetween. Terry has such a mind and we therefor have to consider alive and living. It may not be a pretty life with any kind of high quality yet no doctor has once supported the unreasonable claim that she is dead and has been for 15 years.

Both of you are missing the fundamental problem......you are diferentiating between the "mind" and the "brain".

While there is no doubt that Terri Shiavo still has a brain.....her mind is long gone.

I again will contend that since Michael Schiavo has violated Florida law by repeatedly committing adultery (a violation of Florida law - 798.01) that he has forfeited his right as the closest kin. Any takers on that argument?

Ozbee - it's been looked at and it makes no difference. Under Florida law, they are still married until she dies or files for divorce and he is still next of kin.

The latest effort has a chance of getting a stay though, but I doubt it will help. If she hasn't urinated since Sunday then there's a hell of a lot of irreversible damage been done to her by now - probably need a kidney transplant to survive at this point.

The coworkers, friends, family and countless others who know me much better then yourself never reach the baseless conclusions you have. I can honestly cop to the charge of being strange or unique, but that does not imply insanity.

Can you prove that every action taken by Terry Shiavo is one of an autonomic response such as found only in a brain but not a mind? Until you have such documentation your assertions are nothing but opinion. The doctors cannot even decide on this matter, so how can you?
