I already mentioned it. LG's Prada. Read my first reply in this thread. It's not really upcoming, but they're gearing it for a US launch with some revamps, from what I read.

Ocean is a dope phone, and it's a dual slider (for keys slide down, qwerty keyboard slide out) which I think is fantastically unique. But, unfortunately, Helio is an ass provider much like Amp'd mobile.

Ok, so I got a pretty quick but decent look at the iphone at work today. It's about the size of the screen on a PSP and has a surprisingly fast interface. Cool little touch options like spreading your fingers to zoom out and closing them to zoom in. Battery life is about standard for a cell phone, but a little weaker due to it's advanced abilities. Coolest things I saw about it were the web browser and the on demand map feature. That alone impressed me. I have GPS on my cell phone, but it takes a dick year to get a google map up. The iphone took about 45 seconds.

Sweet little phone, but I couldn't justify the 600$ price tag.

After I saw all the stuff the iPhone wouldn't do I was kind of glad I am going with Verizon. That thing is uber powerful why the fuck doesn't it have GPS?

Just read about this, as a Linux fan this might be pretty nice to have. And it looks like it will only be about 300 bucks.

I first heard about that phone last year or the year before I think. then the mock ups with the green case were making the rounds. I was sure at the time it would have zero chance of ever seeing the light of day. But now? Shit if they actually get that to market it's going to set the bar pretty high for all the competition.

That said I still doubt it will sell well at all. An unlocked platform like that will have no marketing support from the wireless companies and their love of walled gardens.

But I'll probably get one just on principle. You need to support that penguin shit with real dollars every once in a while.

Verizon is a good provider. Much better than AT&T, Sprint, or T-mobile, imo.

I've heard from family and some friends Verizon tries to bill for calls not made and they're shitty in general when you try to call them about it.

I've heard the opposite about Verizon. Most of the people I know around here are Verizon users (maybe locally it's supported better) but these are people that switched from AT&T and Sprint. I don't think people are going to be 100% happy with anyone.

Yea, there'll never be a general consensus, I've just heard bad things locally.
I'm looking into a new cell phone/plan for myself. I need cheapness galore and no fancy stuff but the basics need to be reliable, so I'm watching out for who has a good reputation.

I'm going with Verizon when my Cingular contract runs out next month simply because they offer NV Navigate and their wireless access support is supposed to be kickass. I do a majority of my business on the road and without access to Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Google Maps, and some other online tools I'd be F'ed in the A.

Verizon are pulling some pretty dickheaded stunts with their fiber roll out. when they have their fiber in place they pull out the copper http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=3357745 so that you are fucked and can't leave them.
