Re: DNA and Racial Success
It's possible to lean towards a genetic direction with only a few "other" genes without losing those genes that benefit a specific task.

Re: DNA and Racial Success
Just what exactly do you mean by "lean towards a genetic direction"?
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Re: DNA and Racial Success
You said "genetically pure" There are different kinds of pure depending on location. I was talking about leaning in one of those directions that is genetically pure, having most of your genes from that group.

Re: DNA and Racial Success
Simple - there's no such thing as a "white" gene. There are genetic traits and broad genetic classes of people. It so happens that the trait of winning 100m sprints is closely related to the trait of having darker skin, which seems to have evolved on the African continent. As a result, it's perfectly reasonable to suggest a person of African descent is as likely to have genes that help them win the 100m sprint as they likely to have genes which express a higher melanin content in skin.Embar Angylwrath wrote:How do you know if any of the runners who won that race were genetically pure, with no "white" genes in them?

I don't actually know. We kinda screwed them up pretty badly so there's not actually that many left and a lot of those have significant issues that would really prevent access to proper training facilities.calleagh wrote:just curious, Dd...do the native australians display any unique talents or do they excel over the lighter skinned peoples?
We've had a few fairly exceptional aboriginal athletes, but nowhere near enough to make any representative statement about whether they have a genetic advantage or not.
