AFAICT, Glenn is a decent guy. Goldline may be someone who pays to advertise on his shows and someone he does business with. He tells people his experience, that he buys antique coins (if you happen to pay attention he often tells people 'rare', though that could just be extras on the 'Extreme' stream) and that people should research it for themselves (and since he's a very religious person he advises people to pray on it as well).

That is your opinion. He is not informing them to buy said coins that lose up to 42% of their value once you purchase them, Goldline is and is scamming the feeble minded folks that are willing to go along with it. That is exactly why Glenn says to research it and "pray on it" to see if its right for the people listening. The key word in there is "research". As myself and Embar have both said, people should research their purchases and that should be common sense.

Aside from that I hardly think that the coin Goldline pushes on people is "rare" in any sense of the word. When Glenn states that he buys rare coins, he genuinely means rare coins that are hard to find and has talked about a few of the rare coins he has purchased on Insider Extreme extras.

As for "being off the deep end": I've been making incredible strides in personal growth, which haven't left me with a twisted world view like Partha or a liberal slant like you or Harlowe.

Beck is a fucking douche, plain and simple. I absolutely agree with Embar that people have a responsibility to do their homework before investing their money (Seriously, who drops 50k into anything without doing the slightest preliminary research?), but that doesn't excuse Beck and Goldline. The investors are being extreme retards, while Beck/GL are literally conning the easily duped. Neither party's actions excuse the other's, and suggesting that Beck/GL are perfectly ethical in all this is completely insane.

He incites fear of the Government stealing all your gold. He lies about what they paid for gold when this happened historically. He says GL is a trustworthy company that sells a product that the Gov't can't take. Everyone has had personal growth over the past few years. Personal growth is inevitable. Partha has jumped off the deep end politically. You and Harlowe have gone Left politically. Others have grown Libertarian or further to the Right politically. Yes. I am despicable. Instead of complaining about how much of my money I don't get to horde or wallowing in government conspiracy theories expecting everyone to take care of them-self no matter their circumstances (because all that matters is me and mine) all while wrapping myself up as some kind of Christian, I volunteer a great deal of my time. I continue to put together mp3's for late-stage cancer patients (thanks again Free for the huge library to pull from), work at a woman's shelter hot-line, organize blood-drives, work on a Habitat for Humanity project every year, work on a crew that paints an elder or shut-in's home every Summer and do volunteer work at my neighborhood church even though I'm agnostic.

Although it doesn't matter how many nice things you do, you'll never get rid of that hate in your heart by simply sacrificing your time without accepting people for who and what they are and constantly attacking them. Instead you should accept that we're all humans (meaning we make mistakes) and we all have different world views.

And the main argument against government hand-outs or charity, whichever you prefer, is that if the government wasn't doing it then other organizations would (whether social, religious, corporate or otherwise). People simply aren't going to let other people starve or go without basic necessities, it isn't in our nature (well, it is in some people's nature). It certainly wouldn't effect people helping themselves, most people are out there trying to help themselves so that they don't have to rely on the charity(whichever kind).
