i started using macroquest because i was bored with eq, and its use alone easily added a year onto my lpay time just beacuse runnnig macros that raised all tradeskilles to 250 was cool. plus it made farming randmo mobs like haze panthers a lot easier without track
hi my names raistle and i used to play games on the internet!

This isn't really an exploit per se, but does anyone remember that level 60 Gnome who spawned atop the hill outside Thurgadin? Well, let's just say that the level 55 Shaman wolf pet, unbuffed, could solo him...
I also used the charm bug to solo high-level Ogres in Oggok. Namely, those new NPC's whom they put in for the "legendary" quests, or whatever sort they were. I would charm an armadillo, run it into the Shadow Knight guild, and order the armadillo to attack. Then, all I had to do was use a low-level debuff on the target, and viola! Solo experience for a level 60 unit. I cannot remember if there were any others of that sort, as it has been quite a while! I really wish that I had experimented with the underground guild hall in Freeport...
There was also that quest in Freeport for which you'd give muffins to a Dwarf, whose name was Pandos, I believe. Very similar to the quest involving the Troll in Grobb...
Oh yeah! And while I won't list any details, I once got an entire raid killed...

Re: Eh.
Nah the ones I don't respect are for example, bards who macro swarm kites and make level 70 in a day. That took no skill, no talent, don't try to pass it off as skill or talent because you don't know how to play your character any better than someone who bought a level 70 off of ebay and never played eq a day in thier life.Xican wrote:EverQuest was mundane. I cheated to level a few times, because to be honest with you, it just wasn't worth killing x mob y amount of times just so I could get Z spell. That's not skill at your character, that is enduring a boring treadmill. I was a damn good druid, and nothing will take away from that. I just didn't have the patience, desire, or interest in the game to level up. Which is probably why I never even made 60. I don't think I really liked Everquest at all, for that matter.I don't like cheat programs and I veiw anyone who has to use them to level or do certain things as rather inferior (forgive the ego). My feeling is that if you have to use a cheat or a bug to play your character you obviously don't have the skill to do it normally.
Stuff like that I have no respect for the people because they have no talent playing the game.

Eleet was Zaris, at least at one point. Ranger in LoH, female.. probably had other characters.
I know because I transfered some crap for him before I knew he was a mass duper. Once I knew, I told some other people and he gave me some sob story about how he wanted to be anon cuz people 'liked' Zaris. I wasn't really in the loop as far as dupes and sploitz go so I don't even know who Thalun is. I do have some screens of tells with Eleet and Zaris if you really want em I might be able to find em!
and as far as I know, from the day Watchers was formed until Velious, none of the leadership was using any ShowEQ stuff. I can think of one person that did use it for sure, and maybe 1 other, but they only used it for themselves.
as far as the SR/W alliance days, I'm sure people in both guilds used it, but I am not sure it really mattered. We had so many rangers and Velious was so easy to track, hell I scouted a lot of stuff on my rogue, so whoever had it was slacking off!

and as far as me personally, lets see
I never duped anything or used showEQ/MQ, but I didn't nazi people that had it either, so I guess I can't claim total innocence.
Other than that, I can't remember much of anything, although I did enjoy using hills do double bolts on my magician when the situation was available! That wasn't really an exploit and half the time it didn't work ;/ guess I suck

As anyone who ever was in a guild with me probably knows I used showeq and wasn't very quiet about it ;-P. I also used macroquest from about PoP on. It was always so hard to just sit back and let things happen while I knew what we were doing was wrong. It usually ended with me sending a tell to someone in charge but they never beleived me ;(.

Closest I ever came to "cheating" was in the over there with Knott. There was an Iksar that when you killed it it respawned right away and no matter how often you killed it would never make you KoS so you could sit there and kill him over and over again and never worry about adds. They ended up fixing it but I got 2 levels off of it before they did.

You don't know about our little tricks in Endeavour, then.Knott wrote:Closest I ever came to "cheating" was in the over there with Knott. If anything was being done that was shady in Endeavour I was oblivious to it. I picked my own targets for the guild and planned my own raids and strats.
Targets were planned days ahead of time and we had the targets for each raid incase one was down. I never gave target info to members or to others because it was too damn fun watching Tori go all insane thinking we were cock blocking them LOL.
Never did do that but Tori had the whole guild thinking it. GOD that was the days!

Targets may have been planned days in advance, but if that target wasn't up you always had Jornon scouting... Half the time Jornon already knew what was up because Ril was feeding us info from zone in and telling us if it was worth it.Knott wrote:If anything was being done that was shady in Endeavour I was oblivious to it. I found a spot along the zone wall in Burning Woods near the Skyfire zone where I could get a double about one in three times. Never really considered it an exploit since it was a random event that you had no real control over. I fought on zone walls fairly frequently when soloing outdoors so I couldn't have avoided it even if I had wanted too.Barrin wrote:Other than that, I can't remember much of anything, although I did enjoy using hills do double bolts on my magician when the situation was available! Eh.
I remember watching necro's do that and always thought to myself; "I should blackmail them in order to garauntee my silence."
Unfortunately, I was just too damn lazy.

Wow, this thread is awesome. I got bored and decided to come see if the old boards were still up and I find this. I'm surprised some of you got away with as much as you did.
I have an interesting little dupe story.
One time, just after I had spent weeks trading in the auctions to buy a fungi tunic, I was in KC and died. I respawned with everything on my body and didn't even put two and two together until I was running from a train in KC a few hours later and saw my fully equppied body laying in the water. Somehow I had duped everything in my inventory. I think I had about 100k worth of stuff on me. It was so awesome. I can't even remember all of the things I bought.
I remember I died in a strange way but I don't remember exactly how. I did at the time but I was too pussy to try and recreate it more than once or twice. I didn't want to lose XP.

Oh, and also I was kind of lucky. I had a friend who had a 56 Shaman who let me play his character. I'd use EQ Windows and power level myself. If you guys ever saw a 56 Shaman and Buntar Huntar duoing in the Hole or mushrooms in that one place on Luclin, that was probably just me by myself.
