Re: Guild Wars 2: due 08/28/2012
pvp is a seperate aspect of the game and will never see it unless you want to
ANET designed the game for both PVE and PVP -- for PVE, the game is rewarding for players who love to expore
game world is huge and much of the landscape is interactive, not just something to look at
this video is an example of dynamic quest content in the Norn starting area

They might be staggering sales to guage how many servers they need. TOR did the same thing.

Here's the poop:

We have sold out of keys for digital distribution in North America. GameStop and Best Buy still have stock available.
We limit sales to ensure we have enough capacity for our customers. We're likely to have capacity available after the initial crunch at the start of the weekend. Players who purchase when we're able to resume digital sales at buy.guildwars2.com will still be able to play for the remainder of the weekend. ~RB2

Re: Guild Wars 2
I did end up buying it from GameStop. Is there a specific server selection or anything? I'm fucking MMO newb at this point. I know nothing.
Btw, side rant. To get it from GameStop you have to download this dumb app, which then asks you where to install it, you do that & it installs a 100k file, then tells you to go download it from guildwars 2 website. You do that & that is just another installer that asks you to where to install it again. Double You Tea F.
Doesn't sound like it, but I hope at some point they let me just put this key into steam & go from there.

Interesting, it just recommended I upgrade to a beta Nvidia driver. Never seen that before.

Re: Guild Wars 2
im on Sorrows Furnace, welcome to join my guild if want - its primarily a PVE guild
http://ultimategenesis.enjin.com/forum/ ... 9/m/869812
if want to see unofficial servers - this site has good list
http://www.gw2guilds.org/servers/us
http://www.gw2guilds.org/servers/eu
my acct name is Ninna.7145 if you want to add me to friends list
one nice thing about GW2,
you can send/receive mail to players on other servers (assuming same region server)
can also goto other peoples servers too (except for pvp) once they get guesting working

Vastlee.6708 - Human Warrior - Devona's Rest
Feel free to add me if you play.
Had already picked my server before I saw your post. Might switch it up later. This one was just the least busy when I did it.
Dunno shit yet. I have found that I like fighting with a gun/bow better than up close. In big events it's too damn chaotic in there with a Hammer/Sword. I thought about remaking a ranger for this purpose, but I asked around & they sorta suggested that there wasn't a big difference. Rangers have more range, but not necessarily more output. Or something. Fuck if I know. I don't want to do another 23 levels just to find out though so I guess I'm sticking with this.

Re: Guild Wars 2
my advice is to try engineer and ranger until level 5
ranger is a good class for range options
engineer offers alot of versatility but w stationary units - that can heal or dmg
i have a level 80 engineer friend and he loves the class
hes told me engineers get a few knockback skills (also handy as range)
biggest complaint ive heard about ranger is that their dps pets die too easily, but easily remedied with using a defensive pet (bear / moa)
Ranger pet list
http://guildwars2hub.com/guides/professions/ranger/pets
Videos of where to get pets
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... re=mh_lolz
-----------------
recommend visting several racial areas while you level
to do this, goto your capital city - find the asura gate to lions arch - visit any racial city from lions arch
-------------------------
your bank is a shared bank with all your characters, you cannot mail stuff to alts, use the bank
buy harvest tools - like mining pick, loggin axes, harvest sickle
doesnt matter if you craft or not, its another way to make experience while explore the world - and occasionally chop a tree or pick an onion

Re: Guild Wars 2
I think I'm just gonna stick with the warrior. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty fucking badass with this rifle. Several times now I've kept entire group events going by myself by drawing the badass away while someone rez'ed & using some awesomely creative slow/dodge/chain maneuvering.
I gotta say I'm diggin this game. The social aspect seems to be lacking a bit in the early stages. Right now it's just sorta "Oh Hey whoevers here, lets kill this thing", but I can see that changing later as I start doing dungeons & stuff.
Oh & good tips. I picked up on the resource gathering thing. I've only just started with the crafting gig. Originally I thought it was just too damn tedious to keep up with all that, but then I realized you could deposit the common crafting material directly from the inventory & with the filter it will show you what you can create I was all about it.
These guys know what's up. Game kicks ass.

I ran into my first difficult jump test thing. Man... fuck that shit. LOL Talk about an exercise in frustration. Spent 20 minutes tying to bounce on a particular pixel only to get to the end & fall 4 flights to the bottom. Brb buying new monitor & dry wall.
Still diggin it. These group events are straight up badass. So much fun.

I made a toon on Sorrows furnace. I am having a fricken blast. One of the few mmorpg games that I noticed I am not looking at my exp bar. I am only level 20 and I have leveled a bunch of times without even noticing it. You just get drawn in by the events and the exploring, gathering.
DUDE, this world event happened in metrica province. Something in the power reactor there. Have to escort and protect these golems as they are cleaning the reactor core. We do the task, sweet. Something happened, core meltdown or something and this huge fire elemental spawns. Everyone croaks within about 10 seconds. That was an epic fight. I died maybe 15 times or so, that brought me back to the eq days right there.
I am Windz Walletnabber on sorrows furnace.
Having a great time and trying to get a few old drunks of tunare memebers to play as well. Its really good so far.

Switched Servers. I'm with Nadia now. One of our guild members says they have dinged 50 times past 80 now. Shit has been live for 12 days bros. WTF LOL - Still having a blast & you're right. I don't even pay attention to the xp bar. The group events are so amazing. I can't wait until I get high enough to do people specific things.

leveling past 80 are skillpoints -- similar to grinding AA in EQ, except they can be used for legendary weapons once you have 200 skillpointsMinute wrote:One of our guild members says they have dinged 50 times past 80 now.

Oh that is great! So now I can just "Deposit Common Crafting Material" when my bags are full & craft it up at will when I'm in town. That's badass yo.
