I can see that chick in an ass-kicker role far easier than Tara. Tara was cute, but so freakin whiny.

Oooo! Yeah that girl would be perfect. Especially harden her up some the way they did Andrea (Laurie Holden). And it looks like she's credited for the role on IMDB so it's on. Good pick!

Yeah, she looks just about perfect. Now they just need to introduce Tyreese so that...

Less talking. More zombies and blood and guts. YEAH! Looks like they finally wised up after Shane died. No more pontificating for 17 minutes about the girl who wants to slit her wrists, civilization and human decency, or how Carl's turning into a cold blooded zombie hater.

Carl has a gun now. Fuck yeah. Maybe he won't be the source of annoyance this season.

Lory can still fuck off.

They're finally acting like this is the end of the motherfucking world. Too bad Shane couldn't live to see it. RIP Shane. He deserves a fuggin' medal! :)

Speaking of The Walking Dead - Comixology had the Walking Dead graphic novels half-off for three days, so I picked up all of the bundles. I'm about half-way through and it's aaaaawesome.

Found Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time and Farscape on there as well, Wheel of Time only has 29 issues so far, but it's fun to see the characters you've read about come alive.

I want comics! I got some Babylon 5 comics that were awesome. I'll have to look into other ones as well. I never did get through Jordan's Wheel of Time series because of his apparent Kubrick-esque hatred of women (they're all fucking morons), but I have people keep telling me I need to get over it .

Certainly better than trying to choke down Terry Goodkind's bullshit.

Damn, I'm a cussing fool this week. Weee!

I enjoy Wheel of Time, it can be tediously descriptive at times, but I don't find the women morons, they have a lot of actual power in the towns (only they can be town "wisdoms"), the women's circle seem to run things and the Aes Sedai, are some wicked tough female mages. In fact the males showing signs of magic are "gentled" (stripped of powers and left a bit crazy). The women in his books do seem to think most men are morons (bumbling idiots). As a chick, I honestly find shit like romance novels and crap like Fifty Shades of Grey, to be far more distasteful. But then again, Google+ thinks I'm a 24-35yr old male (Google's view of my demographic based on my web activity).

Anyway, back to comics! I love how easy it is to get back issues or series bundles via digital downloads and it's half the price or even less. Tablets are the perfect size for reading them as well. I also use Dark Horse's digital downloads to get comics like Serenity, Dollhouse and The Strain.

Harlowe, how far in do the women start to get interesting? I don't know why I was so turned off in the first book. I just kept thinking that the women were all nags, all evil, all conniving, or dumb as rocks. Might have to give it another shot. At least it's a mega huge series that will keep me entertained for many hours to come.

Also, ugh about Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight and that kind of crap. I cannot even stomach the first paragraph of these books. Not to mention, Fifty Shades is basically about a man abusing (emotionally, physically, sexually) a woman and calling it it BDSM. People I know who are more familiar with BDSM say the book is way off and borderline irresponsible. But, I don't know. Haven't read but the small bit and could not get past this passage:

I scowl with frustration in the mirror. Damn my hair--it just won't behave. I must not sleep with it wet. I must not sleep with it wet. Damn my frustration!

WTF?

It makes me want to eat a jar of wasabi and pee gasoline fire on the world.

Going back to Jordan, I do remember his writing being GOOD in terms of craft.

On comics . . . I never considered the tablet deal and digital downloading. Will have to check that out. I just have a kindle fire, but maybe. Hmmm.

I'm with you on those books!!!

I don't think there are app's for Comixology or Dark Horse avail for Kindle Fire, because it's a fork of Android and not completely an Android or Apple system, but it might work in browser mode by just logging into your account I think. It might be a little small, iirc my guy's Fire is quite a bit smaller than my tablet. I have an ASUS Transformer Prime and comics are gorgeous on it. Digital downloads have increased my comic consumption a hundred-fold.

Speaking of graphic novels, I just invested in Volume 1-3 of Absolute Sandman....my guy is so awesome, he thought it was "cute" and didn't bat an eye at my splurge (still need 4 and 5, but that would have been a ridiculous amount to spend in one shot). Neil Gaiman lives near the twin cities, so they actually had signed copies (at no extra cost) avail at a local sci-fi fantasy book shop he pops in from time to time (Dreamhaven).

Wheel of Time - I think the women get less annoying a few books into it. I'm starting over again so I'm not sure how far in, but I think it takes one or two. Min is a cool character from the beginning though. I'm sure it wasn't book one, but maaaaybe book two.I was completely annoyed with Egwene and Nynaeve, they are probably the ones that turn you off, but Moiraine and Min are awesome, I guess Elayne isn't my favorite either. Maybe my love of the genre and it is great writing (I'm looking forward to seeing how Brandon Sanderson did with the last books) make me more tolerant of shitty female roles, but I enjoy the books and they definitely pass the Bechdel Test.

Skipping to an entirely different series - if you haven't read it, I highly recommend Robin Hobb's Farseer's Trilogy, and then the Tawny Man Trilogy. They are excellent. There is a trilogy in-between but it's more sea-oriented and not necessary for continuing to the last trilogy. FitzChivalry and The Fool's story/relationship is one of my favorites in any series.

I've heard awesome things about Hobb. I just downloaded the first book of the Mistborn series. Just broke it open. Maybe 2 chapters in. Seems to be rolling along nicely. I'll add Hobb to my list. I love that I can download samples on Kindle.

I really want a tablet, but I refuse to buy Apple because I'm such an old whore that I'd want to smash it against the wall for not having my Windows comforts. People try to tell me, "It will change if you get an Apple, it gets better."

Nope. I still put two spaces after my periods. I'm trained. Not happening. Is your tablet any good? I love my Kindle, but it really is small.

Sandman? Gaiman's series? I read that Gaiman pitched the Sandman for GRR Martin's Wild Card series and was rejected (so he got it published on his own). Martin said he regrets that decision. Most definitely. :)

Hey, I just started Mistborn too! I loved Sandersen's The Way of Kings (the first in the Stormlight series, but I think he's only about 10% finished with the second book due to all his time spent on finishing Jordan's WoT series), which is why I picked up the first Mistborn book.

I love, LOVE my ASUS Transformer Prime tablet. You can get a slick matching keyboard that attaches nicely to it too if you want a mini-laptop. I use my tablet all the time.

I've seen used ones on Amazon for around $300.

I also highly recommend Robin Hobb's work. The trilogy in between the Farseer and Tawny Man series is the Live Ship Traders. There is a brief overlap of the between LST and Farseer/TM but it only lasts a chapter or two. There is a sequel to The Live Ship Traders but I started to nod off reading the first book. Will have to try again, I hear it picks up some.

Let me also throw in Tad Williams's Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, The Dragonbone Chair, Stone of Farewell, and To Green Angel Tower.

I like THIS thread. It's where all the cool people are.

BTW, why doesn't someone in the show get a frackin' silencer for their guns? Or mention it? "Hey, I wish we had silencers because we could just run around plugging these ugly suckers in the head w/o calling a herd of them."

One thing I'd like to talk about is last season, the zombies were all chasing a helicopter, right? And they ended up near the farm and went nutso when Rick shot Shane.

WTF is up with that?

On the tablets. I want one with a camera. I know the new kindle has a camera, but I don't want to get a new kindle.

Maybe I'm taking crazy pills here or something, but I thought quite a few of them had silencers in the first episode of this season.
