I played on Brell after quitting UO back after the release of Velious.

I played a monk "Sarisk" (though no one will recognize the name) from 1 - 59 without using cheats or any sort of powerleveling.

I was very "out of the loop" about cheating and exploits. I heard about bugs once in a while at the comic book store my guildmaster owned. If anyone in my guild used hacks/exploits...I had no clue.

I remember very clearly a druid friend talking about some ridiculous bug where you could charm the named mammoth in Western Wastes and no matter who died in the fight you would get exp and loot.

Oh...wait. I did cheat for exp.

Sorry Cat people.

Whoops, I posted this in the wrong thread initially. My bad -_-

Sorry, messing around with sig! Nice to see a lot of you people still exist. I'll never forget EQ, and I'll never forget the people on Brell. I'll never forget meeting some of you at Chicago Fan Faire, which I still consider one of the best weekends of my life.

I know that I stirred up a lot of bad blood, and I kind of want to apologize for that now. I was very young when I started playing EQ (14 years old or so) and was very immature. I would have never recruited someone like the old-me to my guild in WoW. I want to apologize, for being such a damn guild hopper. For going from Watchers, to SR, then switching servers and joining Afterlife.

When Afterlife moved to WoW Beta, I stopped following them. I didn't want to play a game for a year and have my character erased, but I knew I'd be into it when it released. I decided to start my own guild, initially from RL friends. I put a lot of hard work into it, and I don't think my guild would be nearly as successful as it is now if it wasn't for everything I've learned with guilds and people in Everquest. I knew the types of people to recruit, and the types that would just cause drama.

Manglurr just told me how his brellrants name expired, and i got nostalgic and decided to check it out. Glad to see a lot of you are still around, if anyone wants to chat, you can IM on AIM at Nitebludgg.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Meh if someone used a hack in watchers it was an individual not a guild thing.

Trust me if watchers was using hacks to get places people would know cause people like to blab whatever guild you're in. For example, Alarius, SR, and Sojo using the wall bug to beat foresight. They try to keep it hush hush but thier members talk (course sadly enough that bug was fixed before Watchers got in there to use it).

I am proud to say that though I am in the minority I have never used an outside program ever with everquest.

And before someone brings it up the only way I ever cheated was that 2 people had access to my account which is how I got so many AA. 2 people playing lets you xp more heh.

Haha Ickhor, damn you for making a mage and having it break before you could make my Beastlord.

The exploits I really knew about were in Sirens Grotto where you could go into the one well and pull all the mobs and they couldn't reach you. As a necro you could solo there all day long and get the named and sell drums of the beast for insane money.

The other exploit was in Halls of Valor in the temple rooms. There was a kiting exploit you could do where if you moved back and forth a certain way the mobs could never reach you. It made soloing the sentries easy.

If someone has one of those programs running while playing, the screenshots will say things like Xandso <Officer of Guild> or <Leader of Guild> instead of just Xandso <Guild>.

That being said, most guilds have members that use stuff like that, though the leadership may or may not approve of its usage.

Very early on, I duped by accident. I got killed at the same time I got pushed through a zone line, and had a corpse on each side. I freaked out, couldn't decide whether to /petition it, didn't, and spent the next few months wondering if I was going to get banned for selling an extra set of uber banded armor.

Other than that, I used a Nostromo for autoarchery before it was part of the game, and also autoforaged with it. (This is the only bad thing I ever did with my computer unattended.)

I think that's it. Also, if anyone in VC was using ShowEQ, they've got one fucking pissed ex-Ranger who got sent on suicide scouting missions every raid night. This is the one time I will honestly admit Jecks was smarter than I am.

I've seen too many friends banned to ever really think of going the cheating way.

I remember when Niteraptor got a duped body tho :P

Ickhor knows my dark secret. although anyone who might have cared is long since gone hehehehe.

I remember when I got told about EQwindows, playing 2 accounts on the same computer totally changed the game for me, went from 2 boxing, to 6 boxing within a year.

I downloaded ShowEQ, but after using it once, its not really that great, I always have a druid with me, and it doesn't lag my computer when I click on track.

I've had like 3 corpse duped in the time I've played, and each time I petition them to be deleted.

Heh, I remember Ckador ruining Sol ro..Bastard lizard. The only "hacking" I really did was rollbacks playing so much you could tell by the server lag zoning ect. Well me and a few friends had it down and would pretty much dupe everything in our inventories. I sold enough BoCs and SoDs to fund my alts..I had alot of alts friends had no ideas about heh good times...good times.

O and for all of you WoW players, It worked for gold too. Right before a rollback <Doomhammer had them every other day> You just trade with a friend about 15 seconds before and when you came back you still had yours, but it stayed on him also haven't tried it for like 5 months not really a need to heh and they kinda fixed the latency and lag issues and server crashing.

Well really awesome thread. God knows there were times I really wanted to cheat on that game, but I never bothered to learn about it or maybe I was hoping someone was just going to tell me. ya right...

The only thing I did that people thought was taboo was ebayed my ranger after i was done playing. Shit made almost $300

I was pretty big in the MacroQuest scene...

I started with the C6 macro, which made class 3 silver tipped arrows at a 3k/hour profit...

I was one of the developers on the largest macro (to my knowledge) bows, which made around 60k/hour. I remember the price wars that came after this, and selling the script.

I wrote one of the more popular scripts for the infinite xp quest in Sanctus Seru, using the /warp plugin we had just wrote for macroquest...

I was pretty much done after that, since the price on platinum was destroyed soon after we sold the bows script. I remember 10k going for 80 bucks!

I got back into the scene a year ago or so, and fooled around with the enchated silver ruby viels, but nothing major.

Wolfrunner stole my manastone too. I remember getting grounded from EQ (for like the millionith time) and letting him borrow it. I logged on maybe a year ago to try to get it back (I gave him like 100k for his red dragon scale too) and never heard from him. Cougaress doesn't have a clue about it either.

Oh man I'm going to have to reinstall now....
