I kind of hope so. A computer with the state composition of a few hundred thousand qubits would unlock a lot of things, I suspect.

Like DES, AES, Blowfish, Twofish and AACS for a start...

That would be just great for some of us.
"note from IT director RE: New password policy.
Due to increased risks from quantum computers passwords must now be changed weekly. Passwords must contain no words found in the dictionary. Passwords must contain a mix of upper and lower case letters numbers punctuation marks and symbols. Passwords must not contain any string longer than 4 characters that has been used in another password in the last 12 months. Passwords must be at least 62 characters long."
"A few months ago, I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and best intentions still tell me that's true, but the facts and evidence tell me it is not." - Ronald Reagan 1987

My first response was "the password policy makes no difference if the underlying crypto is cracked", but then I realized that IT departments would typically respond that way anyway.

At what temperature does this 16-qubit superconducting adiabatic quantum computer operate at?

I want one that is 300 Qubits by 50 by 30, and I want it to be seaworthy!

Sounds like they're trying to get the supercomputer to do the same thing as I do when trying to have sex with my wife. Get her into the superposition, but I have problems trying to simultaneously pin down her position while knowing her momentum.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

If you start throwing out statements like "worldwide computer revolution" and "ultra-high level computation abilties" you'd be surprised how many people start plopping their money on the table. There is significant dollars to be reaped from this in just a few years time. What surprises me is the majority of the $30MM came from just the Vancouver BC area. I'm surprised they didn't have to go to other areas to get that kind of money.

I would guess the potential for massive returns from patents developed would be significant.
