Fabled?
OK, I can't keep up with EQ, so what's the deal with the Fabled mobs? Did SOE just go through and make a crapload of famous named mobs randomly spawn into this Fabled class and up their level by 20? And then drop stuff comparable to high end mobs in newer zones?

Re: Fabled?
Not randomly (it's very specific which ones they change each year), but yes. Essentially they take a bunch of mobs from the era they are targetting (I think they are up to Luclin?) and retool them to be challenges for the current state of the game, but try to hold true to the original mechanics of the fights.Finglefinn wrote:OK, I can't keep up with EQ, so what's the deal with the Fabled mobs? It would be way cooler if they made them totally random, like one spawn every 10 or something. Remember the days when CT was up in Fear and the guild there couldn't handle it, so that guild would call in a bigger guild to take him down? It would be kinda like that if the spawns were random. The top level players would all rush to see who could amass the necessary groups to take the fabled named down.

Re:
When the Fabled first came out, there was a LOT of cooperative camping, lists, the whole nine yards. I see less and less of that each year, mostly because the mobs have gone from being rated E for Everyone to rated R for Raid Force (Latest Expansion) Only.

A lot of the loot doesn't have comparable AC to the newer stuff, although a lot of the other stats stack up...I'm hoping Ssraheza drops a fabled sword...I just wanna see the stats...oh, right, and expect me back online by the end of September!
I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

Well, if I wanted to play again, one of the easier ways to upgrade my character could be through fabled items. I looked through the entire fabled loot list and there is more than a whole set of gear I could assemble in zones I can get to easily that would totally retool my character and get me into modern day playing shape. That is if the mobs were all readily available. And looking at the mobs, there are several that could be done with 2 groups of well-equipped guildies, no problem, that would give my character lots of new good gear. Only the really big mobs need a raid to do (Sontalak, AoW, Aten, Burrower, etc.).
Am I getting nostalgic to return to the game? It sure feels that way the last couple days...

Me and Jagriel play all the time.
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

Hey Tallas.. we're pretty low-key this time around. Nothing like Alarius with the raids and such. Just hanging out, doing a few quests, that sort of thing. Usually no more than a couple hours a night, if that. And not every night either. I usually play maybe 1-2 nights a week, and 1-2 on the weekend.Tallas wrote:I would have gone to Vanguard to hang out with you guys if I only had the time to put into that game. Right now though, getting myself ready to find a real job in the coming months takes priority.Vanguard, Fingle. Vanguard.

Let me know if you'd like to try it out. Its a pretty cool game, despite the bugs.

Jag and I are on Florendyl atm. He's Jagriel, a monk. I'm Lokus, a cleric. We have a third that plays regularly with us, a tank. So the Holy Trinity (yes, it exists in VG), is taken care of. Any other class would do nicely in the group. All of us are about level 30-31. You'll get to level 10 in a day. Level 20 in a couple of weeks, depending on how you play.Finglefinn wrote:Well, if I could group with you, Jag and Tallas regularly, I'd consider it.
What are your players names and classes?
Quests are the way to go for experience and levels. Plus, our guild is a crafting centric guild, so armor and weapons are easy to get. The guild is called "Foundation"

I'm not, Tura. I retired four years ago. A few of my friends botted Fingle for a couple years after for buffs, heals and a port bitch. But his gear, however sweet it was for Luclin/early PoP (prior to augments) is uber junk now. You're right though, if I hung around with the guild for a dozen raids or so I'd probably get twinked pretty fast, since every piece of gear I have needs replacing.Turaylon Soulshadow wrote:You can probably get better than fabled loot if yer still in Alarius.

Or if you're a camp training wanna-be ninja looter like Turd.Turaylon Soulshadow wrote:You can probably get better than fabled loot if yer still in Alarius.Finglefinn wrote:Well, if I wanted to play again, one of the easier ways to upgrade my character could be through fabled items.
