Zeitgeist translated means time-spirit, but I guess we would think of it as spirit of the times. I didn't know anything about this movie until this past weeked. It is a trip to watch, especally having drank a house saki large, desert wine and a glass of pinot noir prior to viewing.
There are essentially three main points to the movie that sort of interconnect. The first part of the movie tells us about religion and how the same exact themes have been repeated for thousands of years in numerous cultures around the world. I'm not a religious scholar, but if what is stated in the film is true, they did quite a bit of research and put it together in a very convincing way. I go so far as to say that if the film is correct, the Christian religion at least is a complete sham and Jesus probably never existed as the story is told in the Bible. The second part deals with wars in the modern age and that they are inevitable, the third part ties it all together by stating the world is essentially being manipulated by world bankers.
There is also a bit of conspiracy theory regarding 9/11 being a plot carried out to start up a war. I found none of the stated evidence (all hear-say) compelling, save for the video of Tower 7 falling for what appeared to be no reason at all. However, after looking at the wiki page for Tower 7, it appears to have fallen due to structural failure brought on by twin tower debris and fire many hours after the twin towers fell. I have to admit that the video in the movie makes it look like the building was demolished on purpose.
Anyway, a very interesting movie, and particularly the religion part. I wonder if the movie is stating factual evidence regarding religion or 'interpreting' evidence to suit their agenda?

Re: Zeitgeist
Interesting, certainly gives you a lot of shit to have fun researching. I particularly enjoyed the religion part (and the Federal Reserve & income tax bits) but it would have been much more compelling if it made it's point with more than one modern religion.
