True Blood

Post by Alluveal »

Anyone else watched this on HBO? It finally hit On Demand, so I've been able to catch it. I have 3 more episodes left to watch for the first season. I'm really enjoying the hell out of it.

I really enjoyed the series - in fact it's much better than the cheesy books. I think the new season starts early June so I'm looking forward to it!

It's better than I thought it would be. It's so Southern trashy. I love that vampires are "out in the open." And the brother just friggin' cracks me up.

I think this is another Heros scenerio. So far I've thought it ate ass, but because it's about vampires (People with super powers), it magically makes it good. I think the show actually has a pretty good supporting cast, but the main bitch is a HORRIBLE actor. I thought she sucked in X-Men too. Sure I'd put it in her, but it takes more then a hot chic to keep me entertained past a few episodes. It's too bad I don't care for it, because honestly the idea of a human/vampire integration thing is pretty awesome. *shrug* Maybe they will make it more to my liking next season

Oh man! See, I love Anna Paquin. I think she really pulls off the whole naive/innocent/southern gal thing.

But, I do agree . . . the supporting cast is awesome. Tara just cracks me up.

I love this series. I did, however, make the mistake of reading the wiki about the book series. I'm afraid the show is just going to retarded crazy with supernatural creatures.

That's cool with me. So far we have confirmed shapeshifter and vampire (and psychic.) There has been mention of werewolves at this point, but I haven't seen one yet.

As cheesy as the books are, there is one thing I am looking forward too if they stick even remotely to storyline..

I like the series, even if I think Paquin has all the acting ability of wet sand. The rest of the cast are mostly pretty good, and for me, they make the series.

I like Moyer in the role of conflicted vamp, he does a pretty good job of dramatizing the conflicts between bloodsucker and human, and also illuminating the sometimes uncomfortable similarities.

Trammell as Sookie's guard dog/friend/erstwhile lover... I think he overplays it a bit, but his character has evolved, the writers have given it more depth, and he doesn't seem as shallow as he did earlier.

Kwanten as Jason Stackhouse?? LOVE the character! Well played, truly. Its hard to play an idiot and make it believable, and then make it believable in a fantasy setting. Its a true look at this actor's talent. I expect great things from him later. He may be a rising Hollywood star. He certainly has the ability. I think he's the best actor on the series so far.

And Wesley as Tara... same view as Trammell. A little over the top, but the writers have given her some depth. I reserve judgment on her until next season (June 14)
Correction Mr. President, I DID build this, and please give Lurker a hug, we wouldn't want to damage his self-esteem.

I just finished the season finale. Interesting. It felt a bit rushed, but maybe they weren't sure if they would get a second season.

Michelle Forbes as a new intriguing character gets a kudos from me. I've been a fan forever.
Lafayette being found in the back of the police car. Ugh. I know it's a fantasy/horror/vampire type deal, but everyone is friggin' dying. I liked him too much.

I will say that when Jason's girlfriend Amy died while they were tripping on "V" was really creepy and well done. She just floated up into the sky. All I kept thinking was "holy shit, that's just fucked up."

I really have to disagree with some of the sentiments about Anna Paquin. I think that it's more the character she is playing rather than her "acting ability." And I don't mind it. I like the character. Reading Harlowe's spoiler should make things interesting for sure. I kind of like Eric.

The new vampire that Bill made is already annoying me. It feels too much like yet another plot device to come in between Sooki and Bill. Bleargh.

Anyway, looking forward to season 2.

Maybe I'm jaded, having spent a good portion of my life in the south. I'm not a fan of stereotypes, but I swear to god every time I hear a deep southern accent the conversation that follows is so chalked full of stupidity I feel as if I lose IQ points each time. It really makes me grind my teeth. So who knows, maybe she's amazing, but I hate her in that role. And since she played a ditzy dumbshit redneck in X-Men too I haven't been exposed to her ability to 'act' any different.

Oh and yeah I thought Lafayette was a cool character too, will miss him.

Also agree with Embar. Stackhouse owns. As much as I want to hate his character, I can't. He does a great job.

I do think the 'special effects' when the vampires start vibrating is annoying. I think it's meant to be scary or something, but I mean really? It's 2009, can we not do any better than that? Maybe it'll get better with a budget increase.

Sin . . . no issue with me, I guess. =) It just feels like they're taking a jaunt through White Wolf land with vampires, werewolves and fairies. Demons are sure to follow as are mages... =)

Well, I really enjoyed season one. I'm excited for season two to start, so a fear of bizarre supernatural plot twists isn't going to keep me from watching. Especially during the summer when the television pickings start to thin out.

Lafayette was one of my favorite characters. Occasionally there is a word or turn of phrase that really amuses me and I will attempt to incorporate it into conversations for the next few days. I spent a week trying to use the phrase "you gonna make me clutch my pearls," but the moment never seemed right.

I like Lizzy Caplan (Amy Burley, Jason's girlfriend) as an actress and I enjoyed her character. Right now she's in a sarcastic comedy I have been watching called Party Down, which is airing on Starz.

Yep, I saw that last night. Interesting opening episode. The new teen vamp chick still annoys the frack out of me, though.

And what the fuck is Michelle Forbes' character?
