Somehow, I bet ACORN is to blame.SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Gov. Gary Herbert's spokeswoman said Wednesday it will likely be several days before it's known whether state workers leaked the personal information of more than 1,300 people who an anonymous group claims are illegal immigrants.
Several media outlets, law enforcement agencies and others began receiving the list in the mail this week, demanding that those on it be immediately deported.
The list sent chills through the state's Hispanic community and marks the latest example of hysteria that has spread since Arizona passed its harsh immigration crackdown this year.

I think it is irresponsible to leak any information about peoples identity to any entity not authorized by law to view said information. If it was a state employee they should be jailed.
Unfortunatly you will probably see more and more of this as more people become aware that the Federal government just doesn't want to seriously tackle the issue of illegal immigration.

I agree with that, however the "leakers" implied they got the info through outside channels, but we'll see what the investigation turns up.Kulaf wrote:I think it is irresponsible to leak any information about peoples identity to any entity not authorized by law to view said information. On a side note, if this list came from government records, and it turns out its mostly accurate in identifying illegal aliens, it begs the question as to why this info wasn't used before to identify illegals. I'm betting its a lot more cost effective and safer to identify and detain illegals this way than to chase them around in the dark at the border. Also, why do the Feds make a show of chasing and catching illegals at the border, then ignore them once they've dispersed into the US?

Because they think it's to their advantage to let them go. Indentured labor probably appeals to the sort of people that give shitloads of money to Republicans, so they don't really want them to leave, and pissing off the Hispanics by deporting half their family means that they're not going to give their votes or money to Democratic candidates. The rest is theater for those that don't want to peer deeper into it.Embar Angylwrath wrote: On a side note, if this list came from government records, and it turns out its mostly accurate in identifying illegal aliens, it begs the question as to why this info wasn't used before to identify illegals. And that my friends is the true US policy on illegal immigration. You need them so you can have cheap strawberries and lettuce. You need them because you won't pay an extra 50 bucks to have your hotel cleaned. You need them you wont pay minimum wages to have your house cleaned or your yard mowed. That's why Obama wont sue sanctuary cities for fucking with immigration policy, but will sue Arizona for fucking with immigration policy.
Its the citizens of the US that drive immigration policy through spending habits, and the government is giving you what you want without having the balls to explain it to you. The American economy would collapse without Mexican labor and Chinese goods. Americans bemoan the loss of jobs overseas, but continue to support Chinese imports through purchasing descisions. They bitch about 10% unemployment, but I bet they aren't lined up to pick fruit or clean hotel rooms or work landscaping or sweat in a kitchen doing dishes.
