Romney and Ryan Think You Are Stupid
Ddrak,
Can you change the title of the thread to 'Romney and Ryan Think You Are Stupid'?
We can use this as a catch-all thread for the garbage coming out of the Romney campaign, and document their absolute contempt for the American voting public.
Welfare
One example is Romney's "Southern Strategy" welfare attack which has earned a pants on fire rating from Politifact. So far, this completely false attack has been a central part of his campaign both in speeches and televised ads. It remains to be seen if this racially tinged lie will resonate with the public, but Romney hopes it will. Romney thinks you are stupid.
Medicare
Obamacare contains reductions in Medicare spending. These spending cuts reduce the amount that Medicare pays to insurance companies and hospitals that don't meet new benchmarks for patient care. The cuts do not reduce benefits. In fact, Obamacare provides new benefits for Medicare recipients, such as reduced prescription drug costs and the elimination of co-pays for preventative care and screenings.
Romney has launched an attack charitably rated as "mostly false" by Politifact. Romney has promised to reverse the savings in Obamacare, somehow protecting Medicare by restoring wasteful Medicare spending.
The Romney position on Medicare is completely incoherent. The Romney plan is to restore wasteful spending in the current system and turn Medicare into a voucher scheme for future recipients. This would raise future costs for seniors by thousands of dollars. But Romney wants you to believe that he's the one interested in protecting Medicare. Romney must think you are a complete moron.

Why don't you just make your own thread?
Then we can be sure to make a similar thread for Obama.
Then we can be sure to make a similar thread for Obama.

Because I like recycling.
You can create a new thread for Obama or ask Ddrak to rename the "Romney technically fails to qualify in WA state thread.
Can we assume you thought the welfare and Medicare attacks were truthful?

Did you assume that Obama was actually campaigning against the correct version of Ryan's Medicare plan?

Re: My ultimate Ayn Rand porn
Nope, I learned last week that the 2013 plan Ryan proposed was different than the 2012 plan that House Republicans passed.
I don't blame Obama for accurately attacking the 2012 plan since that's what was voted on, but he should also talk about the new Romney / Ryan plan.
None of which changes the fact that Romney / Ryan have a dishonest and incoherent position on Medicare because they think you are stupid.
But dodge away!

Sorry Lurker, much as I want to promote my own thread I'm not going to start editing them. :/

That's fine. I'm still going to use this thread as a catch-all, and Romney and Ryan still think you are stupid.

One would hope. Every citizen who believes that women are fully capable and independant humans, rather than chattel, needs to vote against the Republican party in general. Raped? Pregnancy probably going to kill you? Fetus is ancephalic or cancer ridden? Too bad for you.
Also, privately provided Medicare Advantage plans waste $30+ billion annually. This is their intent and design. Fuck the Path to Poverty in all its incarnations.

Couldn't agree more with you Arathena, especially where women's issues are concerned, the GOP party is absolutely toxic.

Akin doesn't represent everyone in the GOP when it comes to women's issues. If thats what you truly believe then you should do some research.

Yes, because invasive ultrasounds, attacking reproductive rights, anti birth control, ending equal pay and parsing "rape" is so pro-woman.

It's a bone. If you honestly can't see that you are fooling yourself. There is no way a constitutional amendment banning abortion is ever going to pass, so putting it in the party platform is just a bone of apeasement to one segment of the party.Arathena wrote:It's only one plank of the platform, after all.Fallakin Kuvari wrote:Akin doesn't represent everyone in the GOP when it comes to women's issues. Sort of like the Democratic plank of eliminating nuclear weapons world-wide appeases the hippies.

Re: My ultimate Ayn Rand porn
Funny. They've only put it on the ballot directly in four states, shoved it through at least one chamber of congress in 2 more states, updated the building codes to shut down all known abortion clinics in 3 states, passed ultrasound laws in 5 states, failed to pass it in how many more, and have been screaming into the bullhorn about it on every level for a decade. Sounds like a bone to me. They're only trying to make it happen piece meal instead of all at once, and are willing to do it any way possible.Kulaf wrote:It's a bone. Ignoring the official party statement of what the party is about requires some real compartmentalization.

Re: My ultimate Ayn Rand porn
Romney continues to repeat the welfare lie and the medicare lie, making complete fabrications the centerpieces of his campaign. Here's an op-ed that expains why the only ideas coming out of the Romney campaign is the big lie.
The McCain/Palin campaign was the ugliest I've ever seen. The Romney/Ryan campaign is on track to be the most dishonest.[Romney / Ryan] can read polls, and so they know very well that if they gave the county the honest debate we were told we were going to have about Medicare, and for that matter about taxation, they’d wake up Nov. 7 with about 120 electoral votes in their pockets and conservatism in tatters.
They know this. They know that the truth would crush them electorally. And so it follows that they know they must lie. They must lie about their Medicare plans. They must lie about the effects of their tax plans on average people and rich people. And they must tell a number of lies about Obama, all the better if they involve race, as the welfare lie does.
So this will be the entire point of the Romney-Ryan campaign. Lie lie lie. Muddy the waters. Turn day to night, fire to water, champagne to piss. Peddle themselves as the precise opposite of what they actually are.

Here's a good Jezebel article that pretty much sums up the fatigue over just processing daily how shitty the GOP is towards women's rights.

And last I checked 3-5 states is a bit shy of 2/3rds.Arathena wrote:Funny.
