Lost Girl

Post by Harlowe »

Just started watching it on Netflix and I really like it. It's a supernatural show, the main character is a succubus (she kicks ass) with a human side kick of sorts and a kind-of love interest wolf shifter. I have a pretty low bar for supernatural series, since I'm a sucker for the genre (I'll even watch Vampire Diaries), but this is a show my guy will even watch with me - unlike any of the teen supernatural shit I'll watch.

Is it worth it to keep going? I watched the first episode and felt like it was too, "Omg, yes, I'm just going along with EVVERYTHING that comes along!"

On the plus side:
1. the sidekick is funny
2. the cop is hot

I thought the first episode or two were kind of on the lame side, but it gets better with character development and I've read (via interviews with hot cop) that it gets darker. I'm only 10 episodes in, but I think its a lot better than the first one. I love the hot cop, he's my favorite character and their relationship is preeeetty steamy.

It's Supernatural with lots of sex.

It can't be as lame as the teen supernatural shit I watch, because again - my guy actually likes this show.

Nah, he's a TV snob, he'll watch Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, but not much more than that. He didn't start liking this show until around mid-season 1 - that's when he looked up from his laptop to actually start watching, which is far better than leaving the room if Vampire Diaries is on. He doesn't even want to listen to that show. You know I should mention, actually the first episode is pretty awful and the following 2-3 are Buffy the Vampire Slayerish if you're not into that, but it definitely picks up from there.

This isn't high-brow entertainment, it's just a fun supernatural show. If you don't like the series Supernatural or True Blood and never enjoyed a moment of Buffy, you probably wouldn't be into it.

Okay, it's getting better. In the last episode we saw more of the dark fey (gambler guy) and learned a little about Bo's mother. I think that was episode 6.

The cop is so damn hot. Holy cow, who could blame a succubus? Seriously?

Nice! I like dark. I also like the actress who plays the main character. There's just something very open and sexy about her and while cop guy is amazing, I also like the chemistry between Bo and the doctor. I think they really needed an actress who could pull off the whole, "yeah, guy, girl, whatever, it's all sexy" thing. Which she does.

That's funny because there are tons of fans that are Team Wolf and Team Doccubus or something silly like that. She does get more involved with the doctor - I won't give spoilers it's obviously going to happen at some time. But Dyson isn't ruled out either. She's a succubus - one human isn't going to be enough for her. Maybe the right supernatural creature, because there isn't as much at risk killing them, but the human is going to pretty fragile for a mate. Just started watching season three - she's definitely going to be visiting the dark side.

She has great chemistry with both of them. The one I don't want to see happen, that some weird fans want is her and Kenzi to hook - no no no nope.

Fuuuuuck! I just saw the season 1 finale. Fuckin creepy TREE LADY. Screw her!

On the other hand, I like Bo's mom. I can't help it. She's truly a piece of work.

Will start on season 2 tonight.

This is a semi-spoiler, but not really. Kenzi is going to be badass dealing with tree lady some day. =)

One of my favorite episodes is the (kinda cliche) body-switch one, but it's hilarious. Kenzi and Dyson are switched and that guy does her PERFECTLY. It's awesome. :D

Hahaha, I cannot wait! I just saw the one where Kenzi cursed Dyson via babba yagga and I was laughing so hard. "I can't handle anymore crazy chicks today." (Dyson)

I will say this, the show has some awesome one-liners, most from Kenzi. The brownie guy was fabulous, too. I so want a brownie. It really is a fun show. It seems to have really found itself toward the end of season 1 and in season 2. What season is it on now on T.V., do you know? They only have seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix, so I'l have to (cough) get more creative if season 3 is out there somewhere).

Also, do you watch Being Human (US), Harlowe? God, I love that show.

Season 3 just started, I think episode two is just airing (it's Mondays at 9 Central on Syfy). I don't have cable so I'm just watching it via creative means. Oh man, I love the Brownie, I wish he became a regular character! I want a Brownie too!

You know, I've never watched the US version of Being Human, but I've been watching the BBC one that is into Season 5 now, or at least 5 will be starting this year. Did you see the BBC one? I think all 4 seasons so far (at least to season 3) are on Netflix. I was wondering if it would be the same storyline or different people. I really liked the BBC one, so I should definitely check it out if you love it. I generally like what you like.

I haven't seen the BBC version of Being Human, but plan to. The US version season, from what I hear, is pretty similar to the UK version season 1, then I read somewhere that they veer off and start doing their own thing. I have a huge fangirl crush on the US actor who plays Aidan. (And just realized recently that he was Crashdown in Battlestar Galactica and voices Darth Maul on the Clone Wars).

I'll have to set Lost Girl to record on the DVR then. Sometimes they have catch-up mini-marathons, so I'll hope for that. It looks like there are an assload of episodes in season 2 as well.

Just met the werewolf buddy of Dyson's (and Kiara who actually seems pretty cool). The new Ash is (agreeing with Kensi) a total Ash-hole.

I love Trick. He's just so badass in his own way and the fact that he's the Blood King makes him even cooler.

Yeah I love that Season 2 has 9 more episodes than Seaon 1 (which seems to be a common thing now with pilot seasons). Once I got hooked I was pretty stoked there were 35 episodes avail!

Kenzi does have the best one-liners. You know, in episode #1 I thought I was going to hate her, but now her and Dyson are my favs. But then again the first episode was SUPER SUPER lame. :D

I'll definitely have to put the US Being Human in my queue now.

Yeah, on the episode where the Morgan (or is it Morrigan?) has Bo help her find some artist guy. About halfway through it now. I like Vex. I can't help it. He's a fun bad guy (if he really IS the bad guy, hmmm).

I like seeing recycled actors. The girl who played "the stag" in that hunt was in Being Human for a bit. I keep seeing familiar faces, too.

I ended up liking Vex too! I don't know if he'll ever actually be a "good" guy, but he's one of the more entertaining characters and I like that he's compelled to be on their team right now.

Morrigan - I think she's "The Morrigan" or something like that.

Whew! Finished with season 2 and have my "creative" versions of season 3 all set. Oh man, I like that Bo is going bad! I want to see her do a mass-succu-attack like she did on the Liche. I went back and forth with Ryan Lambert. I mean, he's a "Loki," and he is kind of hot, (and it was funny when he and Bo almost got hitched), but I dunno. I wonder if we'll see him again.

Oh, Kensi with the Norn made me laugh out loud. I had to stifle it because I was up at 12am and everyone else was asleep, so yeah. You GO girl. Seriously. Worried about the "gift" she received from the Norn, though.

Dyson is being so patient. He needed to seriously go tap that while he could. And I don't care who he's with (the siren's sister, Kiara) he's damn hot. And tall. And yeah. He's like 6'3". I looked it up.

I also realized he was on the Tudors as Lord Cromwell. I watched the scene where he seduces the bard and wanted so badly to be a gay man. Oh God, yes.

This is definitely on my "must watch" lists now, just for the sheer fun factor and the way they play with mythology. (The Blood King is who? Yeah!!)

I really like the direction it took, Bo going dark and I love Kensi being so involved and kicking ass, but yea also wondering ...okay what the heck did angry Norn do to her. It can't be good. I love/hate Dyson being so saintly and patient. I realize it creates a great deal of tension and fans get eager to see what is going to happen next when you drag it out (so they get hooked and keep coming back), but you're going ...DUDE you need to tap it before it gets away! I understand why they do it though, people get so bored when all is happy and well in wonderland you know? People like intensity. I wonder if he's still mated-for-life with her now that he has his heart back? I don't remember if they addressed that.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the fun factor, I actually just got 2 other people hooked on it, so I'm getting fun IM's and emails from them about it. Kensi and Dyson are universal favorites and no one has liked Lauren either.

As a side note, here is a bad way to do hooking up, just teasing the audience for nearly a decade =I hated how they got Mulder and Scully together in X-files, I feel they should have done it well and worked off the first movie, when the chemistry was the best or at least after season 7's episode "Milenium". I feel like they kind of slapped it gether tossing fans a bone at the end of season 8 and 9.

Yeah, I hope they don't drag out the Dyson/Bo reunion too long because let's face it, they have some awesome sex scenes. Dyson boxing and Bo showing up on his doorstep resonates still. (fans self)

If I remember, I think Kensi knocked a jar over at the Norn's and some of it spilled on her arm and the old Norn was like, "Sure, take that with you. Have a nice day."

I hated what they did with Mulder and Scully. The execs and writers seem to know how to deal with romance nowadays and how to keep the momentum going to some extent. No more crappy X-Files kiss, omg, a bee stung me and we've been doing it this whole time anyway BS.

Frackin' Chris Carter.

My guess is that Bo will go completely darkside and we'll see more of the dark fey which is kind of cool and Dyson will have to go in and save her ass. I also wonder who the Eff is Bo's dad. That has to be an awesome tidbit. Cannot wait to find out.

I have two pals who also watch as well. They must have been on our wavelength because they literally started watching the day after I did. We've been texting like complete morons. (Then again, I text during Vampire Diaries with my gay bestie Same and we're like tweens. "OMG, Damon!")

I also want to check out Continuum. I've heard good things about it.
