True Detective

Post by Minute »

First episode was a little slow, but was still good. Has the makings of some real good stuff. Looking forward to it.

Is that the Matthew M. deal on HBO? Or something else?

2nd episode was on par with the first, maybe even a little better. Worth watching.

Welp. I'm hooked. 3rd episode was great. This is a really dark & intelligent show. I love it.

Same.

American Horror Story is now over. I'm starting to get into Shameless now, then Sherklock after that.

My reaction too, and totally hooked. It's intelligent, dark and the acting is fabulous. It's one of the best cop-pairings I've seen (not because they are so bro-cop with one another, but because they play off each other so well). Woody is great, but Matthew M is phenomenal as the most morose, philosophical mother fucker you've ever experienced.

I was kind of sad I didn't just fall onto this at the end of the season so I could binge watch it.

Not sure if this is spoiler-ish, so I'll hide it - but I love this response when asked what he believes....
Hidden Information!
I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in human evolution. We became too self aware; nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, a secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody’s nobody. I think the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.
Here's the second trailer (which was better than the first I think)

Just a heads up to anyone who starts. Give it a few episodes. The first episode is kind of slow. I didn't really know if I was going to like it. Then the 2nd episode sort of picks up & gives you an idea of where the show is going. Then by the 3rd, you're in.

Just keeps getting better. This show is seriously disturbing, but not in a Hostel-trying to be gory kind of way. More in an authentic, the world is fucked up sometimes, way. When Marty says why he left the force... fuck...

Seriously becoming one of my most favorite things to watch on TV.

This is absolutely my favorite show to watch right now. Even though Vikings just started again!

I'm caught up and loving this show now. My only concern at this point is how they will span this across multiple seasons.

It will be a serial anthology a la American Horror Story. Subsequent seasons will feature brand new storylines and characters/actors. I really enjoyed everything about this first season and I'm hoping the second will be just as good and featuring equally talented writing, acting, and production!

Selur...hey who are you? Not said in a rude way, just curious because this is the first post you've made in 9 years. :D

Yeah Tax, it's a one season thing - they've been very open about that from the beginning. The series will be a completely different crime story with different characters/actors each year.

That last episode was intense, I flowered! I like that they are keeping the seasons self contained, it makes you appreciate each season more.

Really? I had the same bitch as everyone else on the planet. It left WAY too many unanswered questions. How were the Tuttels involved? How was this 1 hillbilly influencing state officials? Manipulating evidence? What the fuck was that cosmos blue shit up in the air when Rust turned around before he got stabbed? And about a billion more.
