Has anything changed?Postby Flunkie » Mon Dec 31, 2007 12:29 pm
The funny thing about Clinton is that I don't think she really has much of an agenda, I think she just really really really wants to be the President. She would likely toy around with the healthcare issue, but I doubt anything truly beneficial would come of it. California is trying to pass a state funded healthcare insurance program that it is not likely to even make it to the ballot. But even if it does, the voters will send it down in flames (for various reasons). When you think of Clinton, what other problems do you see her tackling and fixing? Immigration? Forget it. Social Security? I doubt it. Terrorism? She'll play reactionary like good old Bill did. Peace in the Middle East? She's no Jimmy Carter. Nuclear Iran? I think she complains but lets it ride, no military action. Tax system overhaul? No; more of the same. Trade Deficit? She'll make deals that look like positives on the surface, but have no real substance. In short, she is nothing more than the status quo and a passive do-nothing candidate. She gets up everyday and looks around to see which way the winds blowing, and then rides the wind. I see her as a candidate that, if elected, will recreate the same kind of deep political divisions within the populace that exist today with the anti-Bush crowd. There is such a strong cadre of anti-Clinton sentiment in the US that if she becomes president, nothing will get done because she'll be too busy trying to watching the polls, studying focus group results, delivering rhetoric, and meeting with advisor's to worry about anything else. And I have to wonder if the right-wing radio/TV talk shows will get under her skin the way they famously did with Bill.
For a case in point example look no further than Nancy Pelosi; what good has come out of the Congress in the last year? She's a weak leader with an even weaker sense of what reality is for the life of the average Joe walking down the street. Talk about out of touch...

Re: Clinton!
The only thing that has changed is that Republicans have gone more and more to the right. I'm not really happy with Clinton, but I'm not convinced Sanders could win. Biden/Warren would have been my dream team.
